India gets nukes and all we get is a lousy mango.
National Defense means more than defending against threats from abroad, it means preventing future threats and diminishing existing threats as well. Past Presidents have known this.

That’s why Lyndon Johnson entered into SALT (Strategic Arms Limitation Talks) with the Soviet Union. SALT I resulted in the Non-Proliferation Treaty which froze the number of strategic ballistic missiles. SALT II which took place under Richard Nixon ended with the ABM (Anti Ballistic Missile) treaty that stopped the escalating MIRVing (Multiple Independently Targetable Reentry Vehicle) of ballistic missiles (lots of bombs on one rocket). MIRVING was how the Soviets were getting around the Non-Proliferation Treaty. Later, under Jimmy Carter START (Strategic Arms Reduction Talks) began the destruction of existing ICBM launchers.

Ronald Reagan tried to re-start production of Anti Ballistic Missiles, known as SDI (Strategic Defense Initiative) or Star Wars which would be a violation of the ABM treaty. Fortunately the Democratic Senate refused to fund more than basic research, there would be no deployment. Research proved that the system could not be made to work in any meaningful way.

George Bush Sr continued the START process reducing weapons systems further and deactivating the Minuteman Missile program, the last of the US MIRVED launch platforms under Start II.

Bill Clinton moved beyond START II to START III which cut the number of launch vehicles, shrunk nuclear warheads further, provided aid to the ex-soviet countries to secure the weapons that were no longer under the control of the old Soviet super power and supported the Soviet nuclear scientists to prevent them hiring out to the highest bidder.

Comes George Bush Jr. The first thing he does is abrogate the ABM treaty (June 2001) by not only re-starting research into ABMs but stating flatly that the system would be deployed even if it were not proven to be effective. That act of aggression prompted Vladimir (Pootie Poot) Putin to say “We will reinforce our capability, mounting multiple warheads on our missiles," if the US erects a missile shield. The nuclear arsenal of Russia will be augmented multifold," although it would "cost only a meager sum of money". This move increased the number of warheads targeted at the US 20 fold, making it impossible for any ABM system, however effective, to defeat a Russian Strike. The first deployment of Star Wars part II is in Alaska even though it hasn’t hit a single target when the targets were emitting a transponder signal so they could be found.

Not happy with elevating the number of nukes targeting our country by 20 times Bush cut the funding for Nuclear security in the old USSR. Some of the nuclear warheads in those impoverished countries are secured by nothing more than a boarded up door and a no trespassing sign.

Last month Bush signed a treaty with India, already a nuclear power, to give them more nuclear material. The treaty calls for IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) to monitor 2/3 of India’s nuclear plants which could produce weapons grade material. Well, what the heck, 2 out of 3 isn’t too bad, is it? This treaty is a stick in the eye to Pakistan which is an “ally” in the war on terror and has been in a simmering border war with India for the last decade. India gets nuclear material and Pakistan gets our gratitude. Think President Musharif is pleased with that move? Oh, and this treaty abrogates the Non-Proliferation Treaty because we will be giving nuclear material to a non signatory of that treaty.

Under the guise of developing a “bunker buster” to go after deeply buried targets the Bush Administration is seeking funding to develop small tactical battlefield nukes. Weapons small enough to target battle field operations of an enemy. This is a clear violation of the Non-proliferation treaty and an act of aggression that will re-invigorate the old Soviet suitcase nuclear program to produce a bomb weighing only a hundred pounds and small enough to smuggle aboard an airliner or hide near a domestic target.

In other news not reported in our press, the US has sold cruise missiles to the Israelis for deployment on their new fleet of Dolphin class submarines. Didn’t know Israel had a navy did you? Israel has had nuclear capability for some time but refuses to admit it. The Cruise missiles are nuclear capable and with the submarines will allow Israel to deliver a nuclear weapon virtually anywhere in the world. Way to go George, let’s make the Muslim world even more nervous, that’ll make things more stable in the Middle East.

What did the US get in exchange for reversing the work of six previous Presidents, breaking every treaty negotiated to reduce the nuclear threat we face, increasing the number of nukes targeting us, making nuclear warheads available to whoever can arrange to steal one, alienating Pakistan and expanding the number of countries in unstable areas of the world with nuclear capability?

Mangos. We get to import mangos from India.

4. And this just posted earlier today ...
"A long-horned beetle that has decimated mango plantations in China was found for the first time in the United States at the Port of Miami aboard a freighter transporting cargo from Hong Kong, federal officials said Friday."

Why does the long-horned beetle hate us for our mangoes?

5. On the bright side...
the price of mango salsa will drop dramatically, putting more money in consumers pockets. This will boost the economy and produce more jobs. Lower unelmployment rate will follow. And everyone will have nice, smooth skin!
