Informant Says al-Qaida's Number Two Lived in Lodi

Written for the web by Elizabeth Bishop, Internet News Producer

An FBI informant testifying in the Hayat trial today said al-Qaida's number two man, Ayman al-Zawahri, lived off and on in Lodi in the late 1990s, according to a report in The Sacramento Bee.

Naseem Khan, the prosecution's key witness, said al-Zawahri lived in Lodi in 1998 and 1999 and that he saw him at the mosque there. Khan said he never had a conversation with him, although he spoke to him in passing.

The FBI believes Al-Zawahri was Osama bin Laden's physician and adviser. However, Khan said he did not know who he was until he saw pictures of him after the 9/11 attacks.
