CBS NEWS Poll 73% Believe Iraq is in Civil War!
Edited on Mon Mar-13-06 06:52 PM by leftchick
Just heard on cbs news and 13% believe Iraq will end up in civil war!

... :wow: Talk about a white house disconnect!

oh and his approval is 34%! That is base scraping....

(CBS) The latest CBS News poll finds President Bush's approval rating has fallen to an all-time low of 34 percent, while pessimism about the Iraq war has risen to a new high.

Americans are also overwhelmingly opposed to the Bush-backed deal giving a Dubai-owned company operational control over six major U.S. ports. Seven in 10 Americans, including 58 percent of Republicans, say they're opposed to the agreement.

CBS News senior White House correspondent Jim Axelrod reports that now it turns out the Coast Guard had concerns about the ports deal, a disclosure that is no doubt troubling to a president who assured Americans there was no security risk from the deal.

1. Interesting
You really can't fool all the people all of the time, can you?

This is why I so firmly believe in democracy. Yes, the people can be bamboozled by sharp dealers and liars, but they eventually do catch on.

Then there's generally hell to pay.

2. Rove lost control of the message, folks! Rejoice!
Edited on Mon Mar-13-06 07:23 PM by Fridays Child
That's the power of memes at work. The phrase "civil war" has been paired with "Iraq," frequently, in the news, over the last month or more. And, true or not (of course, it is true, in this case) it is now what people believe.

Rove lost control and the truth got out! :woohoo:

9. Actually, that poll is 2 weeks old (2/27). But it's probably closer
than the CNN/Gallop.

4. Well, I wonder how that bit of polling information will go over at the WH?
Who would have thought it possible, Americans making decisions based on what's really taking place rather than what their government tells them is real.

5. I doubt they will even acknowledge it.
their last card to play is a disaster to respond to and I think they know how they would handle one. Nope, they will just ignore it and send the chimp out on his fruitless More War campaigns.

6. True, but it will eat away at them all the same
They're losing their grip on the average American. Good for us, bad for them. :D

7. That means only 14% believe George Bush.
Edited on Mon Mar-13-06 07:29 PM by NYC
Is that a new milestone?

73% believe there is a civil war + 13% believe there will be = 86%.

On the other hand, I suppose that the 13% still actually believe Bush that there is not presently a civil war. Even that would be only 27% believing him.

I think we've hit a new low.
