Noam Chomsky: A Brief Overview of Media Control/Propaganda
I find that it's very benefitial, provided people take the time to research the matter, to have an understanding of the hows and whys of manipulating the public mind. It helps to have some background knowledge of this very real process that many people deny exists, thereby demonstrating the efficacy of those systems of thought control in democratic societies.

An excerpt:

"As long as people are marginalized and distracted have no way to organize or articulate their sentiments, or even know that others have these sentiments. People assume that they are the only people with a crazy idea in their heads. They never hear it from anywhere else. Nobody's supposed to think that. ... Since there's no way to get together with other people who share or reinforce that view and help you articulate it, you feel like an oddity, an oddball. So you just stay on the side and you don't pay any attention to what's going on. You look at something else, like the Superbowl."

2. yet so much of our mythology, our traditions, religion and
our literature seems based upon the evil king/stepmom/bossman/bureaucrat/authority figure- and how innocence somehow defeats the scheming bastards! yet, despite this, the people still say 'i trust them entirely, unless they're caught doing wrong' (????)

5. Thanks for the tip, will do
Media reform is THEE key to overturning this nightmare shitstorm. If the facts were honestly presented to more people ...well, it may take a generation to lose the indoctrinating effects of the last quarter of a century's propaganda ...but still, education is the key. It's always a battle for the "hearts and minds."

6. Also a Chomsky fan, of couse. Sad that he is not getting more visibility
-- but that is the nature of the system.

Ellul and Chomsky are on same track, but Ellul takes analysis to rather uncomfortable logical
conclusion.

7. And Chomsky does not?
A key component in his analysis of the propaganda model lies with the appalling acceptance and indifference of ordinary people toward grotesquely barbaric effects of domestic and foreign policy ...Ordinary people who could, if enough of us actually cared, change the course of our species away from the likely terminal direction we're now on. However, I will seek out Jacques Ellul via Google tonight. Thanks again.
