One of our local soldiers is home on leave
My daughter works at Sonic and said he spent some time out there visiting on Saturday...talking about his experiences in Iraq, etc.
Apparently he went out to a party that night and got shot.
No word on how he is doing yet.
It has to really suck to finally get a break from getting shot at and coming home to relax and get shot.:(

2. That's horrible! When you get the full story of who did what to
who and why, I'd love to hear it. Poor kid...:(

3. Our local paper comes out once a week
I will send you the link.
The story floating through town (a lot of the kids are gone for Spring Break so the grapevine has holes in it) is that is was a race thing.

6. I can't believe race is still a damn issue in this country
You fight for your country and you come home to get shot over an issue of race? What is that?

8. Our town is kind of a special little hamlet
It is predominantly African-American.
Apparently a couple of Hispanics tried to enter an African-American only club and that was when the trouble started.
Details are just starting to roll in.

5. Same thing happened here in Seattle...
two marines on leave go out to party, get mugged, fight back, and both get blown away.

There are some real psychos out there. Sad.

9. I had to re-read your post to make sure I understood
Not that you were unclear, it just seemed so bizarre. I can't imagine how his family must be feeling right now, he's home and all in one piece and then this.

Damn, senseless violence.
