Just how stupid can people be? IRS e-mail promising tax refund?

I think this current e-mail scam going around, wherein the "IRS" claims it has a $63.80 refund waiting for you, delivered in 6-9 days if you just supply your name and Social Security number, is evidence of why some Americans still support Bush, why some think Saddam attacked us, why some will never understand why Bush's spying program is illegal...because America is chock full of just plain stupid people. Lots of 'em.

Anyone who thinks the IRS is going to send you an e-mail saying it want to send you money probably deserves to get hosed, just to be taught a lesson, like a "wake up" slap in the face. I don't know...I'm just amazed. These are probably the same people waiting for Mbutu Ngladoailda, Esq, from Niger to send their uncle's oil inheritance.

Bush is like an e-mail scammer. He prays on the stupidest element of society.

On jay leno the other night. A guy called the cops because he said someone dismantled and stole his garage door. The cops got there and the garage door was there but it was in the up position.

My sister was born with passive schitzophrenia (sp). She is a follower. She would believe this in a hot second. But, she is not Stupid. She didn't vote for Bush, wouldn't in a million years. I don't think she deserves a slap in the face for being a little slow. I was really a little offended by your post. I'll get over it of course.

My apologies, but I'm sure you know no offense was intended. But if your sister is that vulnerable, is it really safe for her to be online without supervision? I'm not being flip or smartass or sarcastic, I am asking a sincere question as I don't know the severity of her condition. This is a pretty basic e-mail scam, just made more "official" by the addition of an IRS logo. Have you made her aware to never, ever click anything in an e-mail without checking with you? Moreover, have you pointed out to her that in real life/business, no one but no one just sends you an e-mail asking if they can send you money! LOL! Send you a bill, maybe, but not money. She needs to know that anytime you have to trade your personal information for unsoliticited goods or money, it is a scam.

We watch her of course. Thats what family is for after all. I didn't mean to be irate. I just am a little defensive for her. She also enters Publishers Clearing house every single time they have a contest and is absolutely sure she is going to win. Plays the lottery weekly also. But in her defense she is a registered Democrat and votes religiously. I love her to death. No need to apologize. We have had to school her about the internet. At one time her computer had more viruses than programs, LOL.

... thing is I have lived outside the US for thirty-one years, and haven't worked in the US nor paid taxes there since the late 'sixties!

But the thing about Mbutu Ngladoailda, Esq, from Niger -- that's on the up-and-up, isn't it? Don't tell me I'm NOT going to get my share of that inheritance!!!!
