Republican Dad to Democrat Son: Switch Parties or I Won't Pay for College
Reported by Marie Therese - March 14, 2006

Yesterday morning FOX & Friends ran two segments on the Texas saga of the two Teds - Ted Gambordella Senior and Ted Gambordella Junior. Junior is a Democrat. His dad is a martial arts expert and long-time Republican who listens to and believes Rush Limbaugh. When Ted Senior found out that his son was a Democrat, he gave him an ultimatum: Switch parties or no college tuition. Junior told his dad that he could give him a million reasons why George Bush shouldn't be President and then, being the entrepreneurial sort, used an idea started in Britain to bypass the elder Gambordella and raise money for his tuition. He's designed a website and is selling pixels so he doesn't have to become a Republican!

So far Ted has sold 15,700 pixels. His pixel page includes listings by his grandmother, Democratic Underground and MoveOn.org. If you'd like to check it out, click on the link below.

16. I disagree
let him keep his convictions. That is independence. I paid my own way through college because I refused to attend the University my parents selected. They had no choice but to respect my independence. Convictions cannot be sold for any price.

6. simple, just switch in name only to a repuke
the father won't be in the voting both when the son goes in, so then the son can vote whatever he damn well pleases

He accomplishes to purposes:

1. He gets his father to pay for his college
2. He can still vote democratic
3. He is being devious, which is like most repukes are, so he is doing what his father wants, but in reality is voting democratic

11. I suspect his father wants some kind of proof that the son is a repuke.

I mean he does know the kid does not agree with him. The father would probably demand he attend pro-bush (anti-America) rallies, picket at planned parenthood clinics or some such nasty show of support for the idiot in charge.

Gee, you have one sticking to his principles, and the other waving $$$ in front of the first . . .

if the kid took the bait, that would just show exactly what Repukes stand for . . .

18. This kid will be happier in the long run for sticking to principle.
He's proven how enterprising he is and that he doesn't have to be dependent on his father to pay for college.

Unfortunately, when it comes to college, he who pays the piper also often calls the tune. That's why it's liberating in a sense to have to pay for college yourself.

I got very little help in paying for college expenses. It was almost all scholarships, grants and loans for me. Then again, it was cheaper in those days and it was easier to get the government aid, especially when you had no money. Took me years to pay it all off, but I did. And no one got to pick my school or dictate my political beliefs.

19. Maybe I'm too cynical but.......
My BS meter is going off.

If you are smart enough to get into a $50,000/year university but can't figure out how to play your dad for the bucks while still managing to vote for Democrats.

Claiming "too honest" just doesn't ring true...NOBODY follows you into the voting booth...not even daddy.

21. Now there's some "family values" for ya...
Dad: Be a dumbass homophobe with racist tendencies who doesn't care about the poor and is for war profiteers and against upholding the law of the land and the US Constitution

Son: Look Dad, it's Ann Coulter! He wants to kiss you! Warts? No thanks...
