Sources: Bush pressed to bulk up staff
Friends suggest changes needed to counter missteps

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A move is afoot among some friends and confidantes of President Bush to persuade him to bring in at least one seasoned Republican veteran to help his struggling staff, CNN has learned.

According to two sources involved in the discussions, some veteran Republicans have been quietly trying to convince White House chief of staff Andy Card to bring in at least one "adult," like a former senator or another "experienced hand," to help him reach out to congressional leaders, troubleshoot and, in the words of one source, "just be in the loop and give advice."

The sources spoke on condition of anonymity.

Despite a series of White House missteps in recent weeks, the sources said, Bush does not appear to have an appetite for a staff shakeup, something some Bush allies have said for months is overdue.

3. No one with a brain and integrity would accept
and of course the boy king doesn't want his staff to change, because the new people might disagree with him or suggest things be done differently. Can't have that in an effective dictatorship. :eyes:

8. "...just be in the loop and give advice..."...that Bush will never TAKE...
I'm sure that seasoned Republicans are lining up around the block to take advantage of this...just THINK! You can devote your time and talents and experience to a man who will not listen to you unless you say what he wants to hear.

WOW!

9. They want someone to
pick up the Tinker Toys in the Oval Office, bring Little Lord Pissypants a sucker when he wants one, and basically someone to just take some of the abuse he dishes out away from Laura and Condi.

No big deal, really.

Although seeing Bush sitting behind his desk in a diaper, playing with a rattle, and sucking his thumb for the first time is a bit of a shock...

15. for what?
he`s a lame duck president that no matter what he does will never be written in the history books as great president. he controls the entire government and the 4 major television and cable news programs so why does he care what the people think? why does he need to reach out to "congressional leaders" jesus. they are all in the republican party! oh yes if the democrats do manage to take the house -so what? i doubt things will change all that much,in fact it may be worse

17. Missteps? MOFO Missteps? WTF?
A misstep is when you trod on your partners toe during a drunken samba. Since when is an out of control war, the mess of the Gulf Coast, secret spying, and EVERYTHING else this reverse Midas has turned to shit, a MISSTEP? What utter fuckwittage!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

19. That'll be as effective as using a band-aid to close up a heart surgery...
...bringing in one more White House staffer won't change much. Something substantive, like getting rid of the dolt in the White House itself, would be a much better beginning move to fix all the things that have been broken.
