Please, Please Don't Quit, Katharine H.
I hope she hangs in there. Nelson can beat her, and she'll lose her House seat too. (she can't run for both) I want to see her beaten badly in this Senate race. I'll be sorely disappointed if she drops out.

2. Dude, it's florida.
Edited on Wed Mar-15-06 08:06 PM by Tiggeroshii
All they need to beat Nelson is a Republican that'll stay in the race. If she sticks around, she can be polling at 2% and still win. Machines OWN the state - much as they do in Ohio.

7. Actually
it's not easy to steal an election unless it's close. She's well behind Nelson, and she has serious ethical problems to deal with. They won't be able to steal this one.

8. you are right - Katherine is a joke here right now
she barely won in a red area for Congress, statewide, she would be an embarrassment in a Senate race.

RUN, Katherine, RUN!

Surely she doesn't go out in public like that. Does she? Gawd that is scary.

12. Well actually...
I beleive they recount (if recountable) votes if it is close. So they steal the election big so it won't have to be recounted. And you know who does the count. We're screwed wither way! :grr:

18. That's why we need a national law that will change this
It shouldsn't even be that hard. If enough states do it, maybe someone will put enough pressure on the legislature to make it account for all of them. This will certainly be astounding if it happens, and wonderful.

16. If it's not easy to steal one unless it's close...
then how do you explain the humongous statistical anomaly in Ohio, when those initiatives were predicted to pass by 40%? Harris is only behind Nelson 10 at most. I'm thinking it really doesn'tmatter how close the election is, unless it's the combined states(as some states still don't use ectronic voting). But as Ohio was the ONE state they needed, all they needed were some machines to do the rigging. Not even that many. Remember, yuo can change an election's results no maqtter how close they areif you have the right authorization without leaving a trace! Think back to the demonstrations in that Florida county recently.

19. She's behind by 20.
She won an overwhelmingly repub congressional district by a small margin. She has some of the highest negatives for a candidate running for statewide office ever. She has an awkward and off putting public persona. I'm frankly more than a little dubious that this election can be tampered with.

25. She'll be behind 20 points and win by 2 to make it look less suspicious
... If Florida doesn't get paper ballots I will bet anything that's about what'll happen. Remember 2005's Ohio? They were winning by 45%! They were popular ammendments, and that's how much they lost by. It's going to happen if we don't change it.

11. If that happens, I will believe everything that is said about Diebold
Right now I'm in the camp that says that it's not possible to overcome a 20 point defecit in an election. And confusing ballot initiatives don't count, I'm talking about candidates.

17. Think Ohio man
Ohio's initiatives were polled at passing by up to 40% margins or MORE consistently for more than a week, and just all of a sudden the results are 50% off the polls. I don't care what people think about electronic voting or whether things can be stolen, but this is somethign that seriously needs to be explained and until that happens we CANNOT be using those machines(as they did fail each test they were given in every state). Those were 40% margins, far more than the 20% you said, unless(as i said to the last poster) it is a total that includes akll the states and not just the ones with electronic voting.

3. According to Stephanie Miller this morning,
she's not only staying in the race, but leaving her House seat to work on her campaign!

There is joy in Mudville tonight!

9. WoW, I didn’t know KH was soooo wealthy..(OT)
According to FloridaTrend.com

"Katherine Harris’ Net Worth

SARASOTA — U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris cashed in between $5.1 million and $25.25 million worth of BHG Inc. stock last year, according to her most recent financial disclosure report.

Disclosures were due in May, but Harris, a Republican who is gunning for Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson’s seat, asked for an extension. Her nine-page report, submitted in August, revealed Harris is the second-wealthiest member of the Florida delegation, with an estimated net worth of between $10 million and $39 million <“Congressional Holdings," September, FloridaTrend.com>. Her biggest holdings include a $5-million to $25-million stake in Intercon Marketing, her husband’s marine products firm; a $1-million to $5-million account in Northern Trust Bank; and a rental property in Sarasota valued at between $1 million and $5 million.

The couple’s home on Longboat Key, valued at about $2.28 million, was not included on the disclosure form. She also has $250,000 to $600,000 worth of stock in her father’s business, Citrus & Chemical Bancorporation Inc."

15. Hate to be a downer, but..
Really, what makes you think she'd lose? The fix is in in FL. Even if she were 30 pts. behind, she'll pull off a miraculous victory. Didn't we see this with Dumbya in the last two sElections?

She'll win.. Just wait and see.
