On Barbara Boxer, And The Unelectability Of Progressives...
<snip>

Barbara Levy Boxer (born November 11, 1940) is an American politician and the current junior U.S. Senator from the State of California.

A member of the Democratic Party, Boxer was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1992. Throughout her career, Boxer has been a vocal advocate for environmental issues, women's rights, gun control and medical research. She is generally classified as a progressive in the left wing of her party and is often in conflict with conservative groups. Her electoral margins have increased each time she has sought re-election.

Ya see... you have to LEAD your people. Not pander to their ignorance and fears.

Plus, she's a Scorpio like me. Nuff said, LOL.

:hi:

6. I Got To Meet Her On That Campaign !!!
I was living up on the Mendocino Coast at the time, and she came into the village of Mendocino to give a campaign speech. She's pretty short, and she asked if we could get her something to stand on so people could see her as she spoke. We grabbed her a foot-stool from the bar where I worked, she gave a great rally-type speech, and then she hung out for over an hour or two just chatting with people and listening to their concerns. She was very approachable, very intelligent, and definitely REAL.

I'll never forget that afternoon, and she basically has my vote for ANY office she seeks.

:patriot:

Hey Trish... you get my vote too!

7. She always has something to stand on
I interned for her in college and every time she went to speak somewhere public like a press conference, someone (often me) had to carry along the "Boxer Box" that was kept in the office and used just for that purpose.

Just a fun fact to know and tell...
