I am trying to remember right AFTER 911

Wasn't there a press release that asked for people to write their idea of what would be the most horrific terror attack on the country under the guise that it would give the government a heads up on what the terrorists might be thinking?
After all this time now, I have to wonder what they actually did with that information or to the authors?
I wonder how many of them have been under illegal surveillance?

suggestions on how to prevent terre attacks. I remember at the time that we must be in big trouble if the government didn't already know.

I think it was on CNN. I don't remember hearing alot about it, so imagine it was a small news blip.

I remember hearing it as well, thought it was kinda strange.

to give gruesome ideas? Or is this another thing?

Didn't they also ask anyone else to submit ideas?

And here's my submission:

Steal an election and put an Idiot in the WH. Fill his advisory staff with a bunch of Neo-Cons intent on destroying the world as we know it. Make sure the Congress & Senate are under the control of a party that advocates pre-emptive war, torture, deficit spending -- and don't forget to make sure they're all beholding to Big Oil, Big Business and Big Pharma.

Create policies that encourage the out-sourcing of American jobs to overseas labour markets. Crush unions, ignore the poor, encourage business owners to hire illegal aliens who will work under inhumane conditions for the lowest wages imaginable.

But wait, there's more:

Steal yet ANOTHER election, thanks to insisting on the use of voting machines that are easily hacked. Give tax cuts to the wealthy, over-tax the middle-class, make health care insurance as unaffordable as possible.

Destroy the separation of church and state, and cut funding to education; delete science from school curriculums and replace it with theories like creationism. Hey, and don't forget to raise interest on student loans.

Ignore environmental concerns completely, especially global warming. Also ignore really depressing things like homelessness, mal-nourished children, millions of people falling below the poverty line, and rampant unemployment.

In the aftermath of lying the nation into an unwinnable war, support the troops by cutting veteran's benefits, and by all means don't pass any legislation that would keep the crazies from disrupting the funerals of those who have died in service to their country.

And as a final touch, appoint totally incompetent people to head up governmental departments where life-and-death decisions have to be made. If one of the country's major cities should be hit by natural disaster, make sure those 'in charge' have a birthday party, a shoe-shopping expedition, or a sports event to attend.

Lastly, suppress free speech, feed the mainstream media propaganda, take bribes where you can get them, spy on American citizens at every opportunity, and question the patriotism of anyone who catches you breaking the law.

And let's not forget the Golden Rule: Scare the populace with warnings of an imminent terrorist attack if all else fails.

Now, if THAT isn't THE most horrific attack that could befall the country, I am at a total loss as to what would top it.
