Republican legacy: Passing our debt to future generations
"It's hard to understand what a trillion is. I don't know what it is," confessed Senate Budget Committee Chairman Judd Gregg, a New Hampshire Republican, this week when debating the government's staggering fiscal obligations.

Senate permits national debt to grow to $9 trillion

The Senate voted Thursday to allow the national debt to swell to nearly $9 trillion, preventing a first-ever default on U.S. Treasury notes.

The bill passed by a 52-48 vote. The increase to $9 trillion represents about $30,000 for every man, woman and child in the United States.

2. Huge debt. Inability to fund needy programs. Disrespect around the world.
Nation crippled by an economy that gives away our jobs to China, and our money to those in this country that are already wealthy. That's some legacy the right wing Republicans are leaving to the next couple of generations of Americans.
