New Map of USA, It's Mostly Blue

It's based on approval ratings.

32. Even 25% of Republicans disapprove.
Great map!

I was reading about his unpopularity and it seems only the most die-hard conservatives are sticking with him.

Many moderate Republicans think he sucks, too.

52. Agreed. Diebold sais the Map is mostly RED.
We will loose again and again. We are being lulled into a false state of "feel good" with all these stupid polls.

Diebold calls it RED. Until we change that this all is meaningless.

14. Right, and what guarantee do we have that they hate
Democrats as much or more?

It would be a far different map, I think, were the Democrats to offer folks a real opposition party. However, just as the GOP had no idea how to behave when they were in power, the Democrats have no clue how to behave outside it.

34. We're not anywhere near as liberal as most think we are
and it's not just the eastern part that keeps us from being the "bluest of the blue". There's a big section of the western part of the state from south of Olympia to Vancouver that's damn near redder than the sagebrush country on the other side of the Cascade curtain. We're really very moderate, statewide.

And I take offense at being compared to the "medium blue like Texas and Arkansas". Those good folk have finally gotten a clue, and TURNED medium blue: Washington has ALWAYS been medium blue. ALWAYS. :D

13. Um. What the hell is wrong with Utah and Idaho? Maybe they phrased
the question wrong in those states. Perhaps they asked...

"Do you approve of the statement that Bush sucks the high hard one?"

Apparently, 56-60 percent agree that he does, indeed, suck it.

The map probably looked that way on Nov. 3rd, 2004, too, but Diebold did a little "crayola job" on it.

24. Don't start!
I swear, a this point I'm tossing it up to being a gender thing. I think our logic up here runs something along the lines of "well, I trust any woman with my vote than some damn guy". Not that I don't suffer from that too. I know for the little local things, if I don't know who the candidates are (like for head of roads or whatever) I will always vote for the woman first. Maine has a long tradition of electing women. It's the only thing I can come up with.

64. Yep two diffrent worlds... ta got that right!!!
It drives me nuts sometimes... especially since the Repug talking points about Granholm are something like "she favors the east side of the state rather than the west." or "she hasn't been bringing in the jobs that she has promised and hasn't been doing anything about the economy." I'll have to go to the state forums ask what that is all about. The DeVos commercials are already out here. Never mind that my late granddad knew his dad. So my mom and grandma says.

Blue

29. How about a county-by-county blue/red map?
If that were done, I wonder if the "red areas" - the ones out in the countryside, away from the big cities - would still be as red. I'd bet they haven't changed. Which makes this "mostly blue" map as pointless as the "mostly red" map of a few years ago.

31. I wouldn't bet on that
I live in a rural area and the attitude toward bush has been in a steady decline. The ports deal was the last straw for many of the locals. It got to where I hated going out in public the past few weeks, everyone knows my politics and they were chasing me down seeking a sympathetic ear for their complaints.

Look at the 46-50 level....it's blue. So you have 5 blues and only 2 reds. That doesn't seem fair.

44. Are you seriously looking for a response to that question?
You do realize that 50% is the dividing line, right?

So if one of the red states had an approval rating of 61-65 there would be a third, darker red color.

Fortunately no state has yet been completely lobotomized, so there only need be two red colors on this map.

It's completely fair, not to mention revealing.

not the most egregious blind followers...thank you Utah and Idaho! All kidding aside, the fact that *Bush enjoys such support here is because that our population is old....I think we are the "grayest" state. All the young people leave for greater opportunities....also, if you look at the state results for this survey usa data, check out his approval in WY among separate age groups.....see what I mean?

We should just boycott the color red, make everyone think of evil and blood when they think of red. If a company has a red sign, go to another store. If a product has red on it, buy form the same thing from one of their competitors instead.
