Russert said something like that on The Today show this am. Anybody have an idea? Is it Cheney's resignation? Or the group of them jumping ship? Another Fitzmas? Popcorn please!

Well Bush likes to do odd things.This would set her up to run from a good place. She said she does not want to run but they never tell the truth. The war by air would be fast and over and Bush could ride out on his white horse as the hero he so wants to be.

WALTER MITTY • Fictional Character

Mitty appears in the short story The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, written by humorist James Thurber and published in The New Yorker in 1939. Mitty is a meek and henpecked husband who daydreams of being a daring surgeon, heroic pilot and dashing naval commander ("Throw on the power lights! Rev her up to 8500! We're going through!"). The story was a mere 2100 words long, but the character struck a chord and "Walter Mitty" has become popular shorthand for any timid soul who dreams of a more dashing life. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty was made into a 1947 film with Danny Kaye as Mitty.

And I freely admit it. I'm scared that Bush is going to use some pretext (like he hasn't already built up a backlog of them) to do something so completely stupid that all that has come before will pale into insignificance. I can, as they say, feel it "in my water" that this is coming.

I'm scared for myself. I'm scared for my 3 year old son. I'm scared for my almost-6-month old son. I'm 38 and I don't recognize the country I live in. I was born here and, still, I don't know where I am.

I'm filled with sadness and anger at what's been done and what's being done to us. And, sadest of all, I see a lot further to fall before we hit bottom. (Never mind that we're going to hit bottom and someone'll start handing out shovels and instructions to "start digging".)

I'm scared enough that I've even started mentally cataloging what I'd do "if the balloon goes up" (to borrow a phrase). It involves spending a few hours to collect those things that are most precious to me and such records as are irreplacable, loading the car or cars and heading towards the Canadian border for a month's vacation. I figure that if I guess wrong, we can come back and go "well, that was exciting". But I don't want to be here when the hammer comes down. *sigh* :cry:

Oh wait, sorry, you're talking about the "other" Washington.
