Irrefutable and concise
So I was just think today. * is up there saying everything in Iraq is going perfectly. A few bumps, nothing more. The rest of the talking heads are doing the same. But then I remembered something that is conspicuously missing from any news conversation, a topic that has dropped off the face of the planet. Drumroll . . . What happened to the rebuilding of Iraq? The electrical systems, the water systems, the rebuilt roads? Where did all the money go? Is the country rebuilt now? I haven't heard a peep about rebuilding Iraq for what seems like months. The whole idea is just completely gone.

How many hours of electricty are there per day in Baghdad, the capital? More than before we fucked up their lives?

The entire focus now has shifted to getting a pseudo government in Iraq, and no one even gives shit one if the country is rebuilt in any way. Its a mad race to say they can take care of themselves so we can get the hell out of there with our tails between our legs.

So if you are looking for an irrefutable, concise reason to say things are going shitty in Iraq, there it is. Any semblance of 'better life' idealism in this dirty occupation has been left dead along the side of the road, like so many rounded up Iraqis.

One more point, a good one: Population of Iraq is 28 mil. War cost is 500 bil. = $17,857.00 per Iraqi. A) I wish my government that says they can't afford to pay my social security in 30 years loved me enough to send a check for that much and B) if 3 years ago we just said 'hey Iraq, overthrow Saddam and we'll give you $17k each' don't you think they would have done it one their own, without ripping their country apart? Oh, but we wouldn't get any oil then, huh?

Whatta bunch of fucking bullshit.

1. Yep, Iraq has become America's biggest welfare state
Use that numbers argument with a Repub, it'll score points. Of course it does obscure the fact that we're killing many Iraqis (women and children included) in order to free them...but Repubs don't care about that.

Great rant, welcome to DU!

3. There was an article this week that there is less electricity now than
before the war. EVERYTHING * touches turns to shit. Don't forget that the Iraqis will get national health insurance - if there are any doctors and hospitals left. What a disaster.
