Televised msm brain storming to help the Pres. with his polls.
Edited on Fri Mar-17-06 04:42 PM by IsItJustMe
Has anyone else noticed that both CNN and MSNBC has had consistent coverage on different ways in which the chimp can get a handle on his sinking polls. Suggestions everywhere from shaking up his cabinet to what he can do in Iraq to change the poll situation.

Since when has it become the job of reporters to be campaign managers? Does anyone else see this and find it to be very troublesome?

2. I've always been annoyed by the blurring of the line between
news and opinion on all the cable channels. Commentary needs to be labeled as such and completely divorced from "just the facts, ma'am" news reporting.

Breaking from a story on lousy poll numbers to a diatribe on how to change the public's opinion is completely inappropriate.

3. They've been at it for quite a while now ...
... literally re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic, right there on national TV.

There's only ONE way for Bush to get his poll numbers up, IMHO. If he announced his resignation, effective immediately, his favourability rating would hit 100% before midnight.

4. In a way, I don't mind the talking heads giving advise.
After all, they did the same thing with Clinton. Remember the "he should just call a press conference and admit to whatever he did, and ask the Am. peole to forgive him" stuff?

Most of the time, Presidents don't pay any attention to it anyway.

5. GOP bought control of most broadcast media by 1997 - the daily coverage
is their reward for their prescient move to buy control of the newsmedia.

6. It's like the RNC has their own political think tank and not just on Faux
I don't recall the same pundits giving Clinton any pointers ... but of course his approval rating was never at 33%!!!! (Nyuck nyuck nyuck!)

7. Yep. For an oldie like me, it's disgusting.
Frankly, I wouldn't want to see it even if it were for Democratic President.

I suppose the old days of objective reporting are pretty much... toast.

8. Foxnews works for George Bush and Dick Cheney.
I don't think there has ever been a president who had/has a huge media group working directly under him, not like Bush. Bushy boy said he was a media creation and he meant it.

10. Contrast this with '96
The media spent much airtime strategizing what the GOP congress could do to chip away at Clinton's popularity.

11. This is old hat, asking both R's and D's. What really bugs me
is that much of the time the Dems actually ANSWER. They should simply say, hey it isn't my job to spearhead the presidents poll numbers.

14. Kinda reminds me of
how Ford and GM try every possible way to make their numbers look better except actually building a car people will buy.
