HUFFINGTON POST
I Just Love the Smell of Propaganda in the Morning
6:43pm today Larisa Alexandrovna

I have to wonder just how much this photo- op cost us little people, err, taxpayers, and how much of that money could have gone to veterans instead:

"...But contrary to what many television networks erroneously reported, the operation was by no means the largest use of airpower since the start of the war.("Air Assault" is a military term that refers specifically to transporting troops into an area.) In fact, there were no air strikes and no leading insurgents were nabbed in an operation that some skeptical military analysts described as little more than a photo op. What's more, there were no shots fired at all and the units had met no resistance, said the U.S. and Iraqi commanders."

I also have to wonder just who the reporters on the ground were who managed to fabricate a mission that did not exist and the networks that simply took the "just trust us" word for it again.

journalistic laziness or, worse, propaganda inspired by this admin.
And yes, I'm sure those 16,000+ wounded soldiers could have benefitted
from the money spent.

15. There has to be some legal recourse to sue
Halliburton, Cheney, and others for defrauding the public...If only there were an attorney willing to file a class action on our behalf.

17. Kicked and Recommended!
:kick::thumbsup:

All one has to do is ask themselves this simple question: why wasn't this mission carried out long before Thursday? Why, on the cusp of the Chimp's historically horrific poll numbers, did they decide to do this NOW? How many human beings, on both sides of the conflict, DIED for this fucking dog-wagging photo op????

When the history of this era is written, it was be framed as the darkest days of our republic. And, all those asshats with W'04 stickers on their BMW SUV's will live in shame for the rest of their days. Mark my words...

6. Perhaps a photo op, or laying the groundwork for an invasion of Iran.
Or both.

14. No, Iran will not be invaded via soldiers...
This was an abuse of power and military resources to stage a PR stint on our dime. It is entirely inappropriate to use troops for a political statement and to do so over and over as though they were GOP. In reality, this administration is doing what it does best, privatizing. You see, if they destroy the actual military, then can use private companies that need not abide by the law when abroad. They can engage in human trafficking (Dyna), arms deals (Halliburton, et al), toxic dumping (all of them), and torture/murder (Lincoln and the others) without having to be accountable the way government operations or operatives would. It is sick, but that is what these guys are doing. It is sick really and doing these little photo ops simply exploits our troops.

13. I think those were from an attack on a building somewhere else in Iraq
The US pounded a building where an alleged insurgent was hiding. They captured their man, but killed 11-14 innocent people, mostly women and young children, to do it.
