7. So with you.... I was disgusted last week to hear Levin say that
he was going to wait until after the Senate investigation to consider censuring Bush. WHAT INVESTIGATION? I called up his office to leave him a message about that. I mean, IF there was going to be an investigation, that would be one thing, but he has to KNOW there isn't, so why in the world say that? Wishful thinking? That won't cut it.

But, like you as well, I just can't not call because I think fundies are calling about stuff all the time, and I'm not going to give them an advantage.

votes and actions?

They have interns and staff members who can read legislation and lurk at message boards.

Perhaps it's a form of beating us down with a wet noodle. It isn't painful, but it gets tiresonme very quickly.

wrote under the bus.

They can't use any excuses about this being technologically outdated. It is exactly what the founders meant when they put it in the Constitution.

Amendment IV

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

at his medical records!! How about we all write and tell him it's no good now. His president has declared that NOTHING is private anymore so he may as well give up that self-incriminating evidence he's been trying to hide.

Ironically, the ACLU was behind Rush's attempt to keep his medical records from the prosecutor, and much as I would like to see him have to go to jail as he claimed all drug addicts should do, I was against the prosecutor also, on this one issue. But it won't matter anymore.

Send that video to the prosecutor ~ maybe he can raid Rush's lawyer's offices and get those records once and for all ~

Hey Rush, we know you read here ~ how's it going to feel when your lawyer can't protect from Bush?

Edited on Sat Mar-18-06 12:17 AM by understandinglife
Good evening Congressman Conyers,

You've most likely already seen this report at DKos on the discussion between Olbermann and Turley:

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2006/3/17/23535/7214

You may even have seen a pre-publication copy of the US News & World Report article on these further violations of our Constitution.

Congressman, I've sworn to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic - earlier in my life.

I intend to do just that.

The gravest, most brazen enemy our Constitution has confronted since Jeff Davis resigned from the Senate is Bush and his neoconster crime syndicate.

They must be stopped.

Be The Bu$h Opposition, 24/7

25. Report details
Basically what is being reported is that after 9/11 administration lawyers argued that the same "legal" justification for warrantless wiretapping also extended to warrantless physical searches! There was apparently some objections from the FBI. A lawyer for a suspected terrorist alleges that his (not his clients) home was searched without a warrant.

We really need to kick this up and start demanding for a full congressional investigation into this whole affair. KO made the statement that if there was a prequel to Orwell's 1984, this is exactly how it would start! Jonathan Turley made the observation that if the Constitution continues to be chipped away in pursuit of "victory" in the "war on terror", there won't be anything left at the end but the "victory". Great observation - need to get that on t-shirts & bumperstickers!

LOL. Sort of. It takes forever to download anything. I don't know why. Doesn't matter what media player I use. And then whatever I've downloaded -- skips, stops, starts again, stops, skips, freezes. It's just not worth it to even bother as I don't see half of what I'm supposed to be seeing.

32. I doubt they'll even bother to deny it.
They'll invoke the "war time, we can do anything we want to protect the country" B.S that is their standard answer for everything. That they never even ASKED Congress for advice and consent is symbolic of this administration's complete disdain for the laws of our land. The dictatorship that bush so dearly wanted is already here. The Republican controlled Congress does nothing to even slow these bastards down, let alone stop them.

Let me get this straight: a blow job will bring this country to it's knees (so to speak) and invoke a constitutional crisis of historic proportions. Completely ignoring the 4th amendment and illegally prying into the lives of ordinary Americans by any means available is just another day at the plant. No oversight needed, IT'S WAR TIME! Only thing is, Congress has NEVER declared war!

I expect the Republican controlled Congress to ignore this as well. They've clearly shown that they haven't the backbone to stand up to this most criminal of administrations, or worse, that they don't care.

I weep for our country!

Edited on Sat Mar-18-06 08:53 AM by Greylyn58
but my post was only answered by a couple of people. So I'll ask it again.

With everyday that goes by and ever new outrage that comes out about Bush and his followers, I have to wonder when will the people of this nation stand up and scream in one loud voice:

"ENOUGH!"

Where is the outrage for what Bush is doing to us...to this nation? It sure seemed to be there when a President had sex in the White House. How can it not be here now? The scope of the wrong that has been done and continues to be done to this nation by Bush is monumentally more horrifying than what Clinton did in the White House.

And now this comes out!! It's enough to make my head explode.

45. The Republicans have their "excuse"
I wrote a letter a while back to my Republican Congressman, Joe Knollenberg. I expressed my concern about the warrantless wiretapping, and asked that he ensure the congress appoints an independent investigator to review this case. I also reminded him that laws are being broken by this administration in the name of "protecting us from the terrorists", but in effect the Bush administration is securing victory for the terrorists by destroying our democracy. I also reminded him that our founding fathers envisioned the need for checks and balances in our system, and that many actions by the Bush administration are making the Congress and our constitution irrelevant.

I received my reply late last week. The first paragraph thanked me for expressing my concerns, yadda yadda. The first sentence of the second paragraph cited 9/11. I just started yelling out loud as I was reading this, "you predictable, spineless jacka***, you have to invoke 9/11 in your first real paragraph!"

Basically, he stated that the fourth amendment has not been violated, and that no laws have been broken, because the Senate's Authorization for Use of Military Force in 2002 allowed the President to take any actions necessary to go after those responsible for the 9/11 attacks. Therefore, I guess good old Joe is saying that the President has the right to violate any laws and disregard our constitution, and it's perfectly legal as long as he's saying it's "goin' after the terrarists" in this "long war" that has no end.

I am so irate.

Unfortunately, I've been so busy this week, I haven't had a chance to respond. I'm thinking that at least one of the lines of my reply letter will be to the effect of "So, my understanding is that the Constitution and the laws governing our Democracy are not adequate for this President to follow?"

Trust me, I will respond to him and a LTE to all of my local papers is gonna come out of this. I am thoroughly disgusted with how my Congressman is willing to ignore the laws of our land and not do his sworn duty to uphold our Constitution just because of politics.

/rant off, for the moment
