Why I'm Not a Democrat
Edited on Fri Mar-17-06 10:23 PM by SongOfTheRayne
Don't get me wrong. I'm a liberal. A liberal INDEPENDENT. Because I've realized that you can't really trust any political party. To a lesser degree than the Bush administration, the Clinton administration was also responsible for arrests without charges. There was at least one case in which they made someone 'dissapear'. And seeing how little support there is for the censure, I can hardly say that the Democratic party is standing up for the ideals that it is supposed to hold in opposition to Republican tyrany.

Also, Vince did not disappear he was found dead. As for Madalyn - don't think they ever found her so she did disappear mid 90's. One out of three - not bad.

3. Why I AM A Democrat-I don't believe also you can fully trust
either party and certainly the Dems don't always stand up when and how I want them to. But, the lie was put forth in the last two elections that there wasn't that much difference between Republicans and Dems-I still voted Dem anyway. This last year in particular I have seen Republicans gut or attempt to gut all the long-standing laws to protect people in favor of corporate interests, doing it without any type of bipartisan spirit. (And I have watched a LOT of Cspan). There IS a difference, the Republican party is not only a huge failure but does not stand up for people. Warts and all, I'll be a Democrat any day of the week over a Republican.

And, I might add, I have seen (and recorded) PLENTY of Democrats standing up for Democracy-they just don't get played on corporate media.

You sound a bit like Faux news---who did Clinton "disappear" and arrest without charges. Considering he had the entire repub Congress up his ass for six years, I find it hard to believe this slipped past them. So he was impeached for a blow job, when arrests and disappearences were available? Nice try.

So you should choose the side that best represents your interests. We can control our sides. It depends on you. I myself would rather see a parlaimentary system in the lower house of Congress that would better represent individual interests, but we don't have that today.

there's a damn good reason not to (such as the capable Republicans we have in our town government).

Given that only have the two parties, you gotta go with the lesser of the two evils, if you want to look at it that way.

And trust me, compared to Republicans, the Dems are not "the lesser of two evils;" they're absolute saints.

I think your post was kind of insulting ot the people here.

Edited on Fri Mar-17-06 10:37 PM by oasis
I want to belong to a political party that has the history, dedication and organizational skills to make America a better place. I realize that that many problems that plague our society won't be solved overnight, but I have the patience to trust Howard Dean, Harry Reid, John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Dick Durbin and other prominent party leaders. I understand the centuries old concept of "give and take".

30. Why I am a Democrat..
I believe all people have value, and should be treated fairly.. I believe that the greater good of all is more important than the greater good of a select few.. I value math and science.. I value education for our children.. I value peace, and the ideals that go along with it.. I'll be the first to admit that The Dems don't always stand up when they should, but the Dem ideals are the ones that fit me best.. If push comes to shove removing the DINO's from our party is much easier than trying to build another party from the ground up.. I'm not real pleased wit the current Dem leadership, but I am a Dem, and I won't forsake my party over that issue alone..

75. It always saddens me that posters like this don't hang around and learn
something. At least they could learn how to spell correctly.

81. I'm not a Democrat (technically) either
I registered as a republican on advice from my father during the Reagan years when I was 18. I've never believed in trusting any elected official. The funny thing is, is that I've NEVER voted for a republican - I've always voted democratic. Some of the issues I care about - freedom of speech, open government, economic justice, women's reproductive rights, freedom of/from religion, not invading other nations, workers rights - sure as hell aren't being advanced by the republicans my father supported. Yes, there are some examples of Democrats not supporting these like Zell Miller or Lieberman, but there are lots of Dems that do - Dean, Kucinich, Kerry, Edwards, Clinton (both of them), Gore, Feingold, Wellstone, Kennedy, Pelosi, Kurita, Conyers and more. Technically, I might not be a Democrat in name, but I'm definitely blue in spirit.

102. I guess I'm just too lazy
It doesn't matter too much since I can still vote in the democratic primary, but I guess changing it would give me some small satisfaction - not that the pub's would care too much since I'm not a "have" or a "have more".

You are one of those... hit and run. Where is link to the accusation? Last time I've check under Republican pResident, Congress and Senate, all the surplus has disappeared and the civil liberty and the constitution is disappearing too.
I would much rather stick with democratic party, because, I trust them to do better job with my money.

92. When I was a kid in the 50s
there was an influx of crows on my parents little farm. Now we were poor and needed the corn and pecans. We ate much of the corn, but some of it was ground up to feed the old milk cow. Without her, we didn't get any milk. The pecan crop would sometimes bring in $200.00 or more. Without that, we didn't get any Christmas presents. My father killed a couple of the crows and hung them up in the corn field. They moved on as he would say.

Good point.. we need to make an "example" of some of these people.

I would suggest that the offending post(s) should be marked with something like, "WARNING: THE FOLLOWING POST IS ANTI-AMERICAN - Moderator", in big red letters. :) Just so people aren't sucked in.

In fact, DU needs to be a tad more lenient with some of these posts. Leave 'em up and give us some target practice. November 2006 is fast approaching.

98. Well, that proves it:
Clinton's almost the same as B*sh! You got me convinced.

Bushco may have detained 100's of mostly innocent people at Guantanamo and kidnapped and tortured potentially 1000's all over the world with "extraordinary renditions", not to mention Abu Ghraib..

But someone disappeared while Clinton was prez so he's obviously just as bad.

Good point, well made. "Heckuva job, Raynie!"
