'Choose Life' plate upheld as free speech-'Pro Choice' denied
We live under a FALSE DEMOCRACY. It's phony. Here's the 6th court of appeals ruling in Tennesee.

~snip~ The state would be within its rights to issue specialty license plates reading "Choose Life" while denying a plate encouraging abortion rights, a U.S. appeals court ruled yesterday. ~snip~

2. I do hope that the ACLU decides
to appeal this case. If anything, more attention must be given to the Christian right's agenda so that people will become aware of how this movement is intend on turning this nation into a theocracy.

6. I agree that the ACLU should intervene in this case.
As always, there are a lot of facts that we do know know, but I think the ACLU would have a good case. The state cannot take sides on this issue.

5. Born agains retiring to small town in Tennessee.
Edited on Sat Mar-18-06 09:47 AM by Divernan
I have a former classmate - really great, humane guy, who's wife is a born-again former Catholic. Hard working guy focused on his kids & grandkids, whose wife has her own devout religious circle of friends. He just emailed me he's retiring in a few months and they have bought a place in some very small Tennessee town, where a lot of her church friends are moving for retirement (from the godless Chicago area). I wonder if they'll stay there. It will be quite a culture shock for lifelong, big city midwesterners, even without the holy roller religious atmosphere. And now that he's not working, I just can't picture him with his droll and occasionally obscene sense of humor, fitting in with this bunch.

7. Ripe for a suit
Free speech is free speech. If Choose Life is allowed, then Pro Choice must be allowed too.

You cannot complain that the Pro Choice should be disallowed because it is "imflammatory" to some. You know what, I am imflamed when I see those stickers which say "Smile. Your Mother was Pro Life." Well, this MOTHER IS PRO CHOICE. Do NOT presume to tell ME what I am.

8. Oh, goody...next we'll get "Kill a Fag for Christ" on plates here
in Mississippi, which is, as everyone knows, the very heart of true religion in the USA. "Government speech" is probably the most repulsive concept I've ever heard. The courts are now protecting the government of Tennessee against even being questioned by its citizens? We have all either fallen down the rabbit hole or stepped through the looking-glass.

9. Florida has a choose life plate. I wanted a choice plate
but they said it was taken (yah right!) I thought I would apply again with the French word CHOIX and see what happens. Choix means choice.

... Pro-life plates, a limited number were available last year... The state refused to allow pro-choice plates...

There is no free speech... There are no equal rights for anyone under the law unless one thinks as the freeper administrations of Repuke run states.

btw... Gov. Huckabee of (R)AR is planning a bid for Prez... watta-joke.
