McCain Taps Former Bush Political Director

With Eye Toward 2008, McCain Signs Up Former Bush Political Director to Run PAC

By RON FOURNIER

The Associated Press

WASHINGTON - With an eye toward the 2008 presidential campaign, GOP Sen. John McCain of Arizona has hired one of President Bush's top re-election advisers to help run his political action committee.

Terry Nelson, political director of the Bush-Cheney campaign in 2004, will be senior adviser to Straight Talk America, according to several official familiar with the hiring. They spoke on condition of anonymity so as not to pre-empt an announcement by McCain's committee.

McCain is using the PAC to raise money and organize his travel on behalf of Republicans running in November's midterm elections.

The PAC is also a launching pad for what most Republicans consider to be a likely presidential race by McCain. Nelson's hiring puts him in position to play a major role should McCain seek the White House again.

2. Good move, John. Surely hiring someone from the Bush team
will keep them from spreading evil rumors about you in any more slanderous whisper campaigns. Have you no dignity?

4. Do you think that John just doesn't "get it?" There are plenty of
independents who have watched the way he has cozied up to BushCO and brown nosed his way into favor and it is sickening.

BushCO reamed McCain so badly during the 2000 primary that he still can't walk straight.

Maybe there was a deal struck back then that included the promise of big money and big support if Johnnie would just be a good boy and wait until 2008.

Barf!!!

5. McCain needs to be exposed for the right winger
he really is - this "straight talk," Mr. Moderate crap needs to be put to rest. I truly don't think he is going to get away with this on the national stage this time around. Certainly, Senator Feingold will not let him play that hand.
