Just saw V for Vendetta ... No Spoilers....
Edited on Sat Mar-18-06 05:15 PM by wakeme2008
I suggest all DUers go see it.

But what really surprised me was I went on Sat at 2:00pm in Roanoke, Va and Ok I thought it was strange the four young ppl in front of me were getting tickets for V, but when I got into the theater, it was 80% full. They also had a 1:00pm showing.... A early afternoon showing with a rated R film on a Saturday... I would have not guess it would be anywhere that popular...

1. people are trying to find something to relate to and this theme takes the
cake!

I'm going this afternoon.

Our local right wing leaning paper had a negative review about it. So does People magazine this week.

10. Salon beat it up pretty thoroughly.
That has been the only review I have read. Their objection was that it lost the spirit of the original graphical novel. Apparently the author agreed by disassociating himself from the film. I intend to see the video for myself.

14. The ones I've seen have said:
The story line limps, and never really gets off the ground

That it's hard enough to care for an asshole anti-hero, but it's much harder to do so when you can't see his face.

That it's a movie about big ideas that never seems to have one.

I have yet to see anything made by the Wachowski brothers that was worth the two hours and the 12 bucks... but that's just me. I fell asleep during the Matrix.

15. I liked it....
I know nothing about the original graphic novel, so I can't relate to that aspect.

It's not an 'action' flick, though it has some decent fight scenes and some good explosions. The back story has some interesting twists, blaming much of the political situation on 'America's Wars.' That kind of hit home. The culture of conspiracy and government control in the thing will resonate with most around here who are critical of our current regime.

The whole mask thing was a little weird, but Natalie Portman is not hard to look at for a couple of hours, eh?

16. I keep seeing Hugo Weaving mentioned
and yet I didn't see him once in the film.

Interesting role for an actor to take eh? :-)

18. See it as soon as possible.
The scenes that got to me the most involved gay persecution (and I'm strait). It angers me like Hell to see how the government dictates who people can or can't love.

Then I see how it's done here all the time. We cannot let this get any worse.
