"You mean they have a domestic agenda?"
LAT: Bush's Agenda Loses Focus
The White House staff has failed to formulate a clear domestic policy, some in the GOP say, and the administration is suffering because of it.
By Peter Wallsten and James Gerstenzang, Times Staff Writers
March 19, 2006

WASHINGTON — A growing Republican chorus is calling for a staff overhaul inside President Bush's beleaguered White House, but some conservatives say such a change would stop far short of fixing what they view as a serious flaw: an unfocused domestic agenda.

The war in Iraq is dominating the attention of Bush and his top aides, these critics say, while the recent departure of the president's top domestic policy advisor after just one year has left the White House without an obvious conductor to direct the sometimes disparate policy-making machine.

"You mean they have a domestic policy?" quipped Michael Tanner, director of health and welfare studies at the libertarian Cato Institute.

Tanner, an author of the failed Social Security plan that was Bush's No. 1 domestic priority last year, lamented the lack of a "policy czar" setting clear goals. He described the administration as "exhausted" and "rudderless" on the domestic front.

"There doesn't seem to be an endpoint for what they're doing," he said. "They need to decide what they're going to do for the next three years…. Staff changes are necessary but not sufficient. If they're just rearranging chairs and office plaques, that's not going to do anything."...

2. Starve the beast.
Not only is their agenda to suck us dry at the gas pumps, it's to suck us dry on all domestic issues.

They want only to fuck up every single program the government funds, nationally, such as social security, FEMA and Medicaid/Medicare, so they can claim that private industry does it better and axe all those programs - those programs they call "entitlements," even though every working person pays for them (thus, making them more insurance, in reality, than "entitlements").

Their goal is to line the pockets of the hyper-rich and/or corporate honchos, break the middle class and starve the poor.

3. Their agenda is to totally, completely, irrevocably screw up
our educational system!

As a former teacher who feels she knows as much or possibly more about the education of our young people than those in that ivory castle in the sky (Washington, D.C.), I really, really resent it.

4. Yeah, it's to be industry's enabler through corporate welfare,
massive deregulation, unchecked illegal immigration, unfair trade agreements, under taxing, privatization and contract awards while redefining the words moral and truth.

5. Stripmine the country and its people
That's their agenda, take everything and leave a ruined country and destitute people behind.

Anyone who doesn't understand this is a fool.

6. Of course they have a Domestic Agenda
Edited on Sun Mar-19-06 11:41 AM by Toots
It is to completely empty the US Treasury and funnel it back to the GOP. They desperately want to keep the GOP in Control forever and are doing everything in their power to have it be so. Computer balloting without paper trails. Making it a crime to "whistle blow" Making dissent a crime. Yes they have a very real Domestic Agenda but it has nothing to do with the People other than to strip them of all Freedoms and wealth.
