Crooks and Liars: Durbin Backs up Feingold motives on Censure
Edited on Sun Mar-19-06 12:45 PM by cal04
Durbin backs up Feingold over his censure proposal

Durbin backs up Feingold over his censure proposal and says that there's so much frustration because of the stonewalling that he understands Feingold's motion.
Wallace issued every Republican talking point he could find, but Durbin held his own. He called it a partisan cover-up operation.

16. Thanks for the link!
Here is my email:

Hi Senator!

Although watching Fox news makes me sick, I did see the clip with you and Wallace. WOW! You were fantastic!! I am so glad your supporting Senator Feingold. You really get it and you make me so proud to have you for a Senator! Your message was perfect and you didn't let Wallace reframe it! Now I hope you can convince your Senate counterparts on both sides to stand up for the truth, the law, and the constitution!!

Much love,

Wendy in Naperville

17. Heres my letter, Thanks for writting him. All Dems need + feedback.
Dear Dick Durbin,

God Bless you and Senators like you. I did not see you on Fox (boycott because of their right wing ways) but I have heard a lot about it from a political blog. I have been writing you along to support Russ Feingolds censure motion. No one is above the law. Absolutely no one.

We must push forward with courage and leadership and you are showing that. I will support you in anyway I can. I will not forget this.

Thank you once again,

BEN FRANKLIN: They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety ...

3. Durbin is great. And I agree with the motive. The drama helped get it

in committee where the chances are better to gather more documentation of their crimes.

My only problem is that the case for censure IS a strong one and that it doesn't need to be sold by Feingold as an alternative to impeachment.

4. Yeah, he hedged on that
I wish he didn't hedge. But all and all a great showing from Sen. Durbin. Clear, strong and a gent.

5. The best part was when he smacked Wallace down
with, "I will not let you put words in my mouth the way it is done on these Sunday morning shows." (paraphrased by me) I was whooping, "GO, DURBIN! That's how it's done!"

It was like watching Howard Dean when he refuses to take their bait. Wallace looked like an idiot who was being paid to get Durbin to say something he could hang him with. Oh, wait....

We should let Durbin and others know we saw him and we love him.

9. Decent people who work really hard and do well seem destined
to 'give their children the opportunities they never had' and wind up with spoiled, self-absorbed, money-focused fools as children: Evan Bayh, Franklin Graham, Baby Doc Wallace...

15. Mike Wallace is/was a Republican and supported Nixon! I was shocked
when I heard this last night on the Tim Russert Show. So, maybe his offspring is not really all that unbelievable! 'The acorn doesn't fall far from the tree.'

13. I heard in AAR today that a Republican Senator backs Feingold too...
Unfortunately I forgot the name but is from North Carolina. He said the censure will bring up all that went wrong with the NSA policies. I don't know what to make from it but the reaction in AAR was positive. I just can't trust Republicans.

18. Richard Burr? I haven't seen or heard anything like that, but I'd be
very surprised if it were true. He doesn't stray far from KKKarls plantation on any issue except NAFTA/CAFTA (loss of textile jobs in NC has been huge strike against pols on both sides of the aisle)

Our other Senator is Liddy Dole (the Empty Wig) The only way she could say that is if KKKarl faxed it to her, the woman never has had an independent thought that the Party didn't tell her to repeat.

19. The only Republican that I've heard that might back Feingold is Chafee
He said that although he wouldn't vote for censure now, he might after some hearings take place.

21. This is what I read - Chaffee won't pre-judge censure. It would be very
strange if it was Burr - as he is completely NOT wired for independent thought.
