Support The Dixie Chicks
We all know what the statements were made by these 3 woman concerning Bush and the war. We also know how the right wing blasted them and went way over the line in their comments about these 3 young women.

Now is the time for us to support these 3 women, because they were speaking for a lot of us. I am not telling anyone to purchase their new cd that comes out in May, but do not allow anyone on the right to continue their assault on them....

Here is the words to their latest song from the CD.....We all should take to heart what the words say and mean....

NOT READY TO MAKE NICE:
Forgive, sounds good
Forget, I’m not sure I could
They say time heals everything
But I’m still waiting

I’m through with doubt
There’s nothing left for me to figure out
I’ve paid a price
And I’ll keep paying

I’m not ready to make nice
I’m not ready to back down
I’m still mad as hell and
I don’t have time to go round and round and round
It’s too late to make it right
I probably wouldn’t if I could
‘Cause I’m mad as hell
Can’t bring myself to do what it is you think I should

I know you said
Can’t you just get over it
It turned my whole world around
And I kind of like it

I made my bed and I sleep like a baby
With no regrets and I don’t mind sayin’
It’s a sad sad story when a mother will teach her
Daughter that she ought to hate a perfect stranger
And how in the world can the words that I said
Send somebody so over the edge
That they’d write me a letter
Sayin’ that I better shut up and sing
Or my life will be over

I’m not ready to make nice
I’m not ready to back down
I’m still mad as hell and
I don’t have time to go round and round and round
It’s too late to make it right
I probably wouldn’t if I could
‘Cause I’m mad as hell
Can’t bring myself to do what it is you think I should

I’m not ready to make nice
I’m not ready to back down
I’m still mad as hell and
I don’t have time to go round and round and round
It’s too late to make it right
I probably wouldn’t if I could
‘Cause I’m mad as hell
Can’t bring myself to do what it is you think I should

Forgive, sounds good
Forget, I’m not sure I could
They say time heals everything
But I’m still waiting

They're a darn talented bunch! (And they are still embarrassed that * is from their state, even though he's really not.)

Conservatives within the Country community are much the same hypocrits (moral issues) as the Cons within society.

11. Support Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, too
For they publicly supported the Chicks when NO ONE else in Mainstream Country would, no matter what their beliefs. In this case, silence was acquiescence.

5. Dixie Chicks
They are not the only Texans that are sorry about Bush being a transplanted Texan. Even though Texas is one of the most conservative of states, there are still a minority of us liberals. We can't stand him, never could, never would. The Bush kool-aid drinkers are getting harder to find. My sister, former liberal with a gay son, was the biggest supporter of him during the last election. He was a "Christian" man and that shows how good he was. Her opinion has done a 180 degree turn. She can't stand him either.

6. Having looked around
the web this afternoon, I see that oreilly had some music writer on his program and basically said the Chicks would not be as popular as they once were. Knowing that Clear Channel just about controls what is and not given air play it will be hard for the Chicks.

I would hope many of these country folk have seen what is going on in Iraq and the deaths of our service men and women has increased and not bought into completely the lies by the right.

As Gloria Steinham said on Bill Mahr a couple of Fridays ago, " I rather have a president that made love not war, and one that knew the difference."

Remember,If a right winger ever tells you, our troops in Iraq are fighting to keep us free. Then you can tell him/her, "They`re not. They`re fighting in Iraq because they were lied to."

Per Nataline Maines, they refuse to record in that genre any more. It'll more like -- she said -- the Eagles... more folk rock stuff.

8. I love their music.
"Travelling Soldier" brings a tear my eyes every time.

Artist: Dixie Chicks
Song: Travelin' soldier
Album: Home
<" Home " CD>

Two days past eighteen
He was waitin' for the bus in his army greens
Sat down in a booth in a cafe there
Gave his order to the girl with a bow in her hair
He's a little shy so she gave him a smile
And he said would you mind sittin' down for a while
And talkin' to me I'm feelin' a little low
She said I'm off in an hour and I know where we can go

So they went down and they sat on the pier
He said I bet you got a boyfriend but I don't care
I've got no one to send a letter to
Would you mind if I sent one back here to you?

I cried
Never gonna hold the hand of another guy
Too young for him they told her
Waitin' for the love of the travelin' soldier
Our love will never end
Waitin' for the soldier to come back again
Never more to be alone
When the letter says a soldier's comin home

So the letters came
From an army camp
In California then Vietnam
And he told her of his heart
It might be lovin'
All of the things he was so scared of
Said when it's gettin kinda rough over here
I think about that day sittin' down at the pier
And I close my eyes and see your pretty smile
Don't worry but I won't be able to write for a while

I cried
Never gonna hold the hand of another guy
Too young for him they told her
Waitin' for the love of the travelin' soldier
Our love will never end
Waitin' for the soldier to come back again
Never more to be alone
When the letter says a soldier's coming home

(Martie's fiddle break - Emily's dobro break)

One Friday night at a football game
The Lord's Prayer said and the anthem sang
A man said folks would you bow your heads
For the list of the local Vietnam dead
Cryin' all alone under the stands
Was the piccolo player in the marching band
And one name read and no body really cared
But a pretty little girl with a bow in her hair

I cried
Never gonna hold the hand of another guy
Too young for him they told her
Waitin' for the love of the travelin' soldier
Our love will never end
Waitin' for the soldier to come back again
Never more to be alone
When the letter says a soldier's comin

I cried
Never gonna hold the hand of another guy
Too young for him they told her
Waitin' for the love of the travelin' soldier
Our love will never end
Waitin' for the soldier to come back again
Never more to be alone
When the letter says a soldier's comin home

18. Are you serious? You must have missed the interviews they gave right
after the despicable assault on them, and the album cover which they released as a slap in the face to the name-callers!

Not once did they do what, eg, Bill Maher did, explain or excuse or apologize for what they said, and this song is simply a reitteration of their stand from the beginning.

They got support from real patriots all over the country, and contrary to what O'Reilly et al were hoping for, they have had record sales of their CDs. As rightwingers like to say 'money is speech'. If that is the case, a lot of people spoke for and with the Dixie Chicks.

They supported Kerry against Bush in the election also ~ so I don't know what you mean by 'they folded' ~

46. You're mistaken
They DID apologize in a Primetime Live interview with Diane Sawyer- it was quite a tearful apology at that. Of course, that still didn't keep them from being banned on most radio stations in the country.

I still support them, even though they caved to pressure at the time. That interview was incredibly disturbing all the way around. I've never been a huge Diane Sawyer fan, but I truly can't stand her now. Based on her tone and demeanor in the interview, you would have thought the Dixie Chicks had just sold the state of Texas to bin laden himself. It was ridiculously full of hyperbole and innuendo. :puke:

I'm glad to see the Dixie Chicks are back to speaking truth to power. Hopefully, they won't offer up any unnecessary apologies this time.

52. Wrong, Dork. They didn't fold; they went on a lot of talk shows and
backed each other up on what was said. They took time off after the most successful tour in history to have some babies, but they never folded. I got to see them on that tour and they were fabulous; can't wait for the next CD and, hopefully, tour cause I'll be right there cheering them as always.

42. I stil try to understand my Armenian as a System of a Down fan!
He's a huge fan of theirs, with multiple t-shirts and dressing up as them for Halloween, etc.

And at the same time he keeps trying to talk me into voting for extreme right wingnut Armenian Howard Kaloogian running for Cunningham's 50th district seat instead of Francine Busby. I shake my head over the inconsistency of supporting both of those people.

I told him he should ask Kaloogian in a public setting if he likes System of a Down and their work like "Boom!" with Michael Moore, or if he might explain whether he might support an investigation into charges that Dennis Hastert got corrupted with Turkish bribes to shut down the Armenian genocide resolution. It will be interesting to see if he follows through with that and what happens if he does. He seems to care a lot more about Armenian issues than any other domestic issues that have the rest of us split between left and right philosophies.

50. Um I hate to be the killjoy here but...
In spite of the terrific stance the Chicks took against Bush, I have spoken to a few people who have worked with them in the past. None of them had anything good to say. The word Diva came up alot as did quite a few other things. Normally I wouldn't take someones word at face value but I have worked with these guys for a few months now and I trust them. You can pretty much tell the quality of a person by the way they treat their crew, and the Chicks have recieved an "F" from every roadie I have talked to. I will support their stance against Bush but I won't be buying their albums...
