PHOTOS: Boston rally yesterday
Yesterday we ‘celebrated’ the third anniversary of the invasion and occupation of Iraq with a rally in Boston. It was a very brisk New England spring day, which may have dampened the turnout. I’m estimating between 1,000 ~ 1,200 folks turned out.

The march started in Roxbury, wound through the streets of Boston & ended up at the Boston Common.

This first pic was taken on Malcolm X Boulevard next to the Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury

This sign says it all

Code Pink hits the nail right on the head

We had some lovely ladies from Maine join us. Check out the stickers on the back of their jackets

The Caped Crusader was there

As was Big Brother

Here’s a proud VFP dad and his sons

Turning onto Court Street

Coming up New Chardon Street behind the State House

Onto Park Street

Police presence was heavy as it always is when crowds gather. I want to take a moment and mention that the Boston Police Department performed magnificently as was expected. They were courteous and professional -- hats off to youse guys.
:yourock:

2. Looks like a good crowd.
I think the recurring theme around the party is these rallies were peaceful protests by average Americans, and that says something that is hard to ignore.

10. Hmmmmmmmm,
I don't know. Most of the rallies are listed on the UFPJ, MFSO & bostonmobilization web sites. My VFP brothers are very active at most marches and rallies; that's were I get my skinny.

8. Thanks for the pics. It was a great event and you are right:
the cops behaved themselves. One of them even told me where to find a bathroom.

12. Compare Boston cops to Chicago
How can both of these be such Dem strongholds and the Chicago cops look like stormtroopers and the Boston cops look like extras on Baywatch.

I just went looking for some of the Chi-town pics of the stormtroopers and could only find this thread:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=3326034

The stormtrooper pics may have been on indymedia & I'm too lazy to look for them now.

Here's a link to a site that has most of the 2005 DU rally threads.

on edit: to add link to mogster's (DU) memory hole
