March 2003 - Statements by Governments who Supported Invasion
Edited on Mon Mar-20-06 01:20 PM by sparosnare
In honor of the three year anniversary of Bush's War of Aggression - here are some quotes from those countries who were supportive of invading Iraq - directly from the WH's website. How very wrong they all were, standing up and echoing with confidence the lies of our government. I'd like to get statements from them now on what they said then.

Lots more on the site:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/infocus/iraq/news/20030326-7.html

Denmark
"Only the Americans have the military strength to disarm Saddam and liberate Iraq. But we have an obligation to help. We cannot just sail under a flag of convenience and let others fight for freedom and peace. There has in fact been too much of that kind in the past in Denmark. If we mean anything seriously about our democratic values, then we should also be ready to make a small contribution to the international coalition."
-- Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen, March 26, 2003

Australia
“The Government has decided to commit Australian forces to action to disarm Iraq because we believe it is right, it is lawful and it's in Australia's national interest. We are determined to join other countries to deprive Iraq of its weapons of mass destruction, its chemical and biological weapons, which even in minute quantities are capable of causing death and destruction on a mammoth scale.”
-- Prime Minister Howard, March 20, 2003

Colombia
“We are part of the coalition, along with countries such as the U.S., Spain, England... Many of these peoples, such as Colombians, have withstood terrorism and, like us, they know that this scourge -- terrorism -- must be made to end so that we can live peacefully... Fellow countrymen: To request solidarity, we have to express solidarity.”
-- President Uribe, March 20, 2003

Georgia
“Saddam Hussein has weapons of mass destruction. As long as such a regime exists, the world cannot live in peace.”
-- President Eduard Shevardnadze, March 20, 2003

Hungary
“I am confident that peace will soon be reinstated in Iraq, the weapons of mass destruction will be destroyed and on the basis of this we shall be able to live in a more peaceful and tranquil world in future. I would also like to add that Hungary would be pleased to participate in the reconstruction of Iraq.”
-- Prime Minister Peter Medgyessy, March 20, 2003

Poland
“We are ready to use a Polish contingent in the international coalition to contribute to making Iraq comply with the U.N. resolutions... It’s clear that the problem of existing weapons of mass destruction in Iraq is a fact.”
-- President Kwasniewski, March 17, 2003

United States
“We come to Iraq with respect for its citizens, for their great civilization and for the religious faiths they practice. We have no ambition in Iraq, except to remove a threat and restore control of that country to its own people.”
-- President George Bush, March 19, 2003

1. Correction please! The countries whose GOVERNMENTS
supported bush's illegal war of aggression against Iraq. NOT ONE of those nations had a majority citizen population that supported bush's illegal invasion...not even America until after US bombs were dropping on the innocent of Baghdad.

2. Thanks - I've edited my subject line.
You are correct of course, I think I wrote "countries" because that's how they're listed on the website. :hi:

3. Oh I'm sorry! I didn't mean "correction" as in you should change your
subject line!

I was more talking to the MFing US "media" who never bother to point out the FACT that even the handful of nations that went along with bush's illegal invasion had the majority of their citizens OPPOSED.

I shoulda been more clear on my subject line, my apologies!

6. BTW; Poland admitted they were in it for the OIL.
That ain't working out so well for them, though.

Of all nations that should have known better...POLAND. They know the horrors of war and being invaded. And still they went ahead & supported the invasion of a sovereign nation that hadn't been doing anything to anyone...for their RESOURCES.

At least Poland is honest about it...but I think that makes it even worse; to ADMIT you're supporting an illegal immoral unjust INVASION, with people being KILLED, blown apart, soldiers, 18 year-olds, screaming in pain and agony as their life-blood drains onto the ground, crying out for their moms...kids, little babies, children! Iraqis, Americans...just so you can take Iraqis' RESOURCES???!

Rot in hell, Poland. Rot in hell with the rest of the bush Cabal.

7. Only thinking of themselves and profiting
I just wonder what these countries were promised in return for their support - was it a piece of the big oil pie? Were all of these statements lies, just like Poland, who knew what was going on?

I can't believe the WH still has this stuff on their site.
