especially considering that Fox and his cronies have shown themselves to be every bit as corrupt as their predecessors. I think this swing of the pendulum was almost a foregone conclusion in any case, but it's certainly helped by the fact that there's a strong and charismatic oppostion candidate.

Oh, and his name is 'Lopez'...the 'Obrador' is his mother's family name (Chavez is 'Hugo Chavez Frias', but called Chavez and not Frias).

5. The invasion is still way over the horizon

I expect a long string of verbal attacks from Bushco and State Department to demonize Obrador when he wins the election. It will be easy to do because Obrador is a friend of that Commie dictator, Hugo Chavez. It will be amusing to observe the Hispanic reaction and backlash against the propaganda program here in the states. Can you say blowback?

I'd read about Obrador a few weeks ago but couldn't remember his name. This could be one of the greatest things to hit politics in the US. I'm willing to bet Latinos in the US will find it easier to identify with Chavez & Morales than with the bush neoconservatives. Then just possibly we'll have a viable third party.

I was playing pen-pal with a guy in Mexico recently who turned out to be a conservative (but even conservatives in Mexico mostly still hate Bush). He said Lopez Obrador didn't have a chance outside of Mexico City. I hope he has to eat those words!
