I bought a 3 year subscription to XM today..
My 2 year subscription expired in November but since I haven't been driving much I didn't notice. I called today to get my trusty ol' Roadie reactivated and ended up paying $9.95 a month for the next 3 years. With the upcoming Satellite Radio Wars I know it's a little risky but I gotta have my satellite radio and it's still the best way to listen to AAR.

Here's to XM and AAR and hoping both stay strong!

1. I'm still locked in
at just over $8 per month. Worth it at twice the price.

2. Good move
I recently locked in for five years and am saving a lot of money on the discount and don't have to worry about inevitable rate hikes. It's a good product and I'm not a Howard Stern fan. XM also has Air America, a much better children's station (my kids love listening) and I like the online product it makes available at no extra fee.

3. I've been thinking of buying a satellite radio
Edited on Sat Dec-31-05 01:58 AM by high density
The idea of paying for radio pisses me off in a way, while on the other hand I'd really like to get AAR and some decent oldies music. The last oldies station around here switched to a droning "classic hits" lineup a year ago and I miss my oldies! I'm a good 20 or 30 miles out of range of our AM AAR station and the other radio stations that I can get are rarely worth listening to. I haven't decided yet if it's worth $120 a year to escape the radio blues, since I do have a decent number of "mix CDs" in the car that generally keep me entertained.

6. The difference between us is...
sometimes I'll spend weeks driving for work. Satellite radio is heaven sent in that situation. I can't do without it.

11. You can get a three day 'free pass' to listen to XM Online...
Edited on Sat Dec-31-05 03:14 AM by Rosco T.
at www.xmradio.com for all of the music channels (not talk I'm afraid)... check out the 'decades' stations (40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's) as "The Mix" and "Deep Tracks".. if that dosen't give you an oldies fix, nothing will :)

7. Izzat Right?
Man maybe all those emails I sent to XM Programming and AAR did some good. That's great news. Now I can drive a little later at night and not have to listen to CDs. :)

20. Rosco .. any rumors about Thom Hartmann getting more time ..
on XM?

He shows up on Sunday for an hour.

Why couldn't they have a second progressive talk station?

8. I picked up a Tao XM2Go with coupon.
Cost $150US including three months and zero activation. Not a bad deal considering that the radio is $200US most places plus activation, plus subscription. The radio is a gem. I receive broadcasts from the built-in FM modulator in both my office and my car. I love AAR, Aunti Beeb (131), C-SPAN (132), NPR (133), and the Old Time Radio (XM 164). Music is good. I hate popular music, but the classics and jazz are great.

10. I'm addicted to XM Comedy
XM Traffic has been a help. Weather and news channels. I like a very wide choice of music and I can always find something interesting to listen to.

9. XM came standard in my car
I thought I would drop it after the trial but have come to really love it. When you have to go out during a big cspan event, or during Keith Olberman it's great to be able to keep listening. I love having the AAR but it's more than that even. Good music and good news.

15. When Sirius lost AAR I hung around til' they axed folk town. I went
to XM and found, in addition to Air America, the Power and a deeper play list of the music I listen to.

18. Thanks Rosco
Of course here I sit at 10:54 at night on the last day of the month! I was actually thinking of getting Sirius only because it had AAR (or so I thought) but I guess XM has AAR now.
