Diebold's Toilet Paper Democracy -- a Photographic Essay
How America's Votes Will be Counted (or not) in 2006 and Beyond...Unless Something is Done About it.

You've heard the reports of the new Diebold touch-screen voting machines which have recently been updated to include a so-called "voter-verified paper trail." You may have also heard that they produce virtually unreadable, and almost entirely uncountable "paper trails." In Ohio in 2005, several of those toilet-paper audit rolls on the busiest machines turned up completely blank at the end of Election Day.

If you've really been paying close attention, you may even have heard that these machines failed 33% of the time in a massive election test held last Summer in California due to screen-freezes, software failures and yes... printer jams!

Now, for the first time ever, an Elections Director in Emery County, UT has allowed independent computer security experts to actually study the very touch-screen voting machines being deployed around our country this year for use in the up-coming 2006 Elections.

The BRAD BLOG presents an exclusive photographic look at part of that landmark study and several of the serious problems found with the printing module, the plastic magnifying lens provided to "help" voters verify their uncounted paper trails, and one very troubling little brown door...
