Are you better off today than you were eight years ago?
The only question that needs to be asked in the 2008 campaign.

Slogan: "Nixon-Reagan-Bush...Republicans simply can never be trusted again."

1. I've never been WORSE off
This even beats how badly my finances/prospects were during Poppy's term and I thought I'd never see that again.

What is it about Rethugs and my personal economy? Elect a Thug, I go broke ... Elect a Dem, I start to see some hope. It's almost like clockwork, sadly enough.

3. Well....Yeah.....I Think So.....
They keep telling me the economy's doing GREAT, so I must be doing well.

I've got lots of money to spend, a nice new expensive Lexus SUV to drive, a large home, couple of kids, and a family dog. So, I suppose everything is wonderful.

Of course, the value of my home seems to be declining, and I've got this Home Equity Loan that I'm paying off....the interest rate on that appears to be rising. I'm trying to pay off my credit card bill, and then of course, the $35,000 loan on the SUV. I'm not sure how I'm going to pay for my kids' college, and the price of dog food seems to be going through the roof.

But other than that, I'm doing just fantastic.

4. No, 8 years ago I owned a house and wasn't poor
Since Bush took over, I lost my job, lost my health insurance, lost my house to pay for our medical bills, had to get divorced so my wife could get disability and Medicare to take care of her serious medical condition since I couldn't get a decent job, and struggle in my own crappy little business.

I'd say the actual question that needs to be asked is have you been fucked since Bush took over.

5. That is just awful ... I'm so sorry
You're not alone, though ... I think there are more people than any of us know who are struggling. We've got to get these greedy bastards out of office and give the working people of this country a fucking break!

7. So many of us are in the same boat
A friend of mine got laid of in 2002 while in the middle of being treated for throat cancer. He couldn't afford to keep up the Cobra payments, lost his house too, and last I heard in 2005, the cancer had spread and he was waiting to die.

But Bush's millionaires are having another bang up year fucking over the rest of us.

6. We lived a hell of a lot better on the same money --
Edited on Mon Mar-20-06 07:24 PM by elehhhhna
Gas, insurance, utilities & groceries were all cheaper. Otherwise the house payment & debt (zero) is the same. Income's the same as I worked then while huns stayed home & now vice-versa. The bucks don't stretch anywhere near as far.

Edit: my industry goes to hell when there's a Bush in office. I LOVED what I did & miss it terrible.

8. better question:
HOW exactly have you been fucked over by Bush in the past 6 years?
(question does not apply to most billionares. It is understood that you are actually better off now)

Me? Student loans cut! Making less money than I ever have.

I think a very small percentage of the population would actually say they're better off.

12. Never been worse off
I've become a member of the working poor. Three years ago I had a great paying job and was almost out of debt.

Thanks to Shrubco and his so-called wonderful economy, I lost my job and was out of work for 2 years, used all my saving trying to survive while trying to find work, in debt up to my eyeballs-need to file bankruptcy if I can ever put to money together(again thanks to the new bankruptcy bill)

The job I finally got is terrible(low pay, no health insurance-can't afford it) I could go on and on, but I won't.

So the answer is--No! I'm living in hell right now. I continue to try and find something better, but so far nothing.

17. You and me need to move in, we're kin now
I did the bankruptcy thing just before it changed. Walked away from $27,000 in unpaid medical bills. Cried like a baby. Never expected at 55 to be penniless and homeless (got bailed, rent a small house from friends).

What a fucking way to go into my Senior years. Thanks Booshie, you suck.

13. uuuhhh no.
I am a buisness owner and I've noticed a complete turn around in the way people spend money. In the Clinton years people were falling all over themselves to give me money, now it's like pulling teeth.
This better change soon or we're all fucked.

14. "Hell, no -- "
Husband and I were forced to retire in 2001; now we're voting against anything that raises local and state taxes (although I wish I didn't have to...).

EVERYTHING has worsened in the past eight years.

Oh, sorry. If we sold our house now, we'd get some money. However, Lord knows how much we'd have to pay to replace it, even downsized.

15. In a word, NO.
My hourly wage is a lot better than many, many people, yet as with others, it does not go as far as it used to. Everything is going up in price, many people have had cuts in their wages, lost their jobs, etc. No, I am definitely NOT better off than I was 8 years ago.

18. Hell, no.
Much worse off. Now I no longer have a job. If my relatives hadn't taken me in, I'd be homeless/dead.

"Thanks", Bush, for cratering the economy, which is why I call Gush GW Hoover, b/c Herbert Hoover didn't do jack shit for people in the 1st Great Depression, & Bush won't lift a finger during this 2nd Great Depression.
