About this guy who shot a kid for walking on his lawn...
Story here (warning: extremely insensitive headline):

http://winnipegsun.com/News/World/2006/03/21/1497756-sun.html

Anyway, my point is, I'm taking bets: Anyone want to bet against the notion that this Charles Martin fellow is a Republican? Anyone?

Edited on Tue Mar-21-06 02:36 PM by TahitiNut
:eyes: Why do people say that as though it's a bad thing? Associating good, motivated 'nuts' with that sociopath is demeaning to us nuts, imho.

Republican? The shooter seems likely to be mentally imbalanced, at least, if that's any answer.

Edited on Tue Mar-21-06 02:37 PM by pitohui
sounds like a story from the onion

i don't doubt the dude is GOP but i bet there is a mental health issue also, of course he should be prosecuted, we can't have crazies whacking people for walking on their lawn, but there may be some tragic change in this older man's brain that occurred over time, presumably he wasn't always like this

Admittedly, that is a stereotype...rural freak with a gun blasting at innocent neighborhood children out playing...

Well, after Cheney's hunting incident, it would seem to be open season on Republicans, pardon the pun.

Edit: Clarity.

That dude needs some serious mental health assistance. I don't care if the kid was throwing eggs and drawing swastikas! No kid should die like that, even the orneriest kid shouldn't die like that.

27. I just realized where your mistake was
Those figures are the statewide totals, not the results for Clermont County itself, which voted nearly 71% for Bush.

I can see why you interpreted the info this way, as it is poorly presented and could easily be minsinterpreted.

29. OK. I just c&p'd
The pages said (for example) President Contests for Clermont County, OH

So I assumed...

It is still a very red county though.

The only reason I would have noticed the mistake is because I'm very familiar with the voting in Clermont County. Not your fault.

Yes, it's even more red than you thought!

If the guy voted, most likely he's GOP.

They voted for Bush over Kerry 71-29%
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/pages/results/states/OH/P/00/county.000.html

Clermont County was -- notoriously -- also the place where counting ballots was supposedly affected by "humidity":

who hates women as much as he hates kids who walk on lawns.
And no doubt believes in the sanctity of life...until, of course, that life walks on his grass.
Then he opens up with his shotgun.
