GOP to Air Ads Attacking Feingold
Email from Progressive Patriots Fund, Senator Russ Feingold, Honorary Chair...

GOP to Air Ads Attacking Feingold

The President broke the law and he must be held accountable.

Thanks to you, and tens of thousands of others around the country, the President and his administration now realize that they're not going to get away with it any longer. A news report out this morning says that the Republican National Committee will run radio ads in my home state of Wisconsin, filled with the same scare tactics that they tried to use on me during my last election.

It didn't work then, and it won't work now.

To read the ad click here: http://news.progressivepatriotsfund.com/t/28021/41892/459/0/

Contrary to the spin from the President we heard once again today, this issue is not about whether the government should be wiretapping terrorists - of course it should, and it can under current law. The President simply refuses to follow that law.

And to show that progressives won't back down and that we'll stand up for the rule of law, the Constitution, and the rights and freedoms on which our country was founded, I'm asking for your help today.

According to the news report, these attack ads will begin airing this week on both Milwaukee and Madison radio stations. We must show the President and others that we will not be intimidated. So today I ask you to contribute $250, $150, $50 or whatever you can afford to the Progressive Patriots Fund as a show of support to help me raise the funds needed to help elect more progressive candidates across the country who won't back down to this Administration or the Washington nay-sayers.

Click here to contribute now: http://www.progressivepatriotsfund.com/

As Democrats, we must prove that we won't back down from a fight. We must stand up and stand together, and with one voice demand accountability from a President who has broken the law.

I'll never back down and I know you won't either.

Thanks again for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Russ Feingold
United States Senator
Honorary Chair, Progressive Patriots Fund

p.s. To help us send a message that we won't back down, please go to our website and sign on as a citizen co-sponsor of my resolution to censure the President: http://www.progressivepatriotsfund.com/page/petition/censure0306

1. I've got an idea...
Let's call Russ Feingold and ask him why he’s more interested in protecting our freedom than letting Nero pee all over the Bill of Rights.

10. Where are the other senate/house Democrats in support of Feingold???
Edited on Tue Mar-21-06 05:03 PM by Selatius
When he introduced his censure resolution, did anybody in the Senate bother to stand behind him? From what I can tell, no, and as far as I can tell, they still won't support him. If that's the case, then he's fighting the Republican machine with little or no support from the Democratic leadership. Stop and think how absurd such a situation would be. How much more cowardly could a party be?

Why should I continue to support a Democratic leadership that either will not or cannot stand up for my values? Why can't I go ahead and vote for somebody else in the primaries?

Has it gotten to the point where requiring leaders to follow the law, be honest and open with the public, and take into account the reality of the situation before making decisions has become far too much to ask of politicians?

15. Well, you might want to tell other Senate Democrats that piece of info.
Because by the actions of folks in the Senate, he seems to be in the minority in that chamber, and he almost seems to be a minority of one. How well does that reflect on the representative nature of our own government?

20. Your government is a plutocracy

in the hands of corporations. Senators on both sides of the aisle are in their hands but that does not make Feingold's position wrong. Indeed it suggests he is actually going back to the roots of the post 1930s Democratic party and making a pro-constitution rather than pro-corporation decision.

The question is simple - has Bush lied, violated international and national law, etc and should he be censured (although I'd prefer impeachment). The answer is obviously yes so I agree with Feingold. The rest will play catch up again since he never -repeat never - supported this illegal war.

Edit - add

17. Where is your proof? I don't agree with Feingold's move.
Maybe I am in the minority, but I want to see some proof. Oh, and I don't accept as proof an easily manipulated on line poll as proof.

19. Repubs spent alot of money trying to get Feingold out of office
They did their best in 2004 making Feingold the person Bush Co wanted out of office. Feingold won with his largest margins ever and even had many of the Bush voters voting for Bush and Feingold.
