Laughing at the President in San Diego
Edited on Tue Mar-21-06 09:10 PM by tlsmith1963
Something amazing happened at work today. I was going to work thinking how frustrating it is that two-thirds of Americans now disapprove of Bush, & yet the country still seems so quiet. I was tired of all the people who won't openly express how much they despise Bush. When I got to work, Bush's press-conference was on in the breakroom. "Oh, god--won't someone *please* turn this crap off?" I said. But slowly, I began to notice something. Just about everyone in the room was laughing at Bush. People were making jokes about him. Suddenly, I felt so much better. I started to laugh with them. It was incredibly cathartic to be able to laugh at our pathetic excuse for a leader after months & months of frustration. And this happened in San Diego, which is supposed to be *so* conservative! If Bush has lost San Diego, then he really *is* in trouble. So Bush can go on TV & live in his delusional world where everyone just *loves* him, but I know the truth. America is laughing at him.

1. The problem is, they (shrubco) still sit in all the offices & have all the
power. The laughter is therapeutic but can't really help that much until those power equations are changed.

2. A lot of military families in San Diego, and some of them realize
how dire the situation is in Iraq and how the military is being used.

3. In reply to your statement
about "yet the country still seems so quiet" ..... I've been pissed off for six years now and last year was finally motivated to get involved (ACLU, NARAL, DU, etc) but lately, I've just gotten so tired and apathetic - the Dubai ports debacle was another straw on the mountain and still yet, the Repukes manage to spin it to their advantage by saying it was their victory. If that wasn't a total eye opener to the holier than thou attitude of the people in power not really giving a flying fuck about this country all (the secret meetings - oil execs with Cheney, last minute push thru of legislation designed to screw the middle class once again etc).....there are still sheeple out there and until they see Bush screwing a sheep, they will not budge from their position. I'm just getting tired of it all and I think we need a real leader to step up to the plate - but kudos to you, I'm happy you got a good laugh today!

10. I got into a bu$h/political discussion on the SD Trolley a while back.
And about 15 or so other commuters joined in, with others looking at us and quietly nodding. NOT ONE bu$h supporter! And these people were angry too.
It was great!
