So why did Wolfie interview Helen today?
It seems to me, he was asking her why she asked such a hard question. And I find that intriguing. Why would one reporter ask another reporter why they asked a hard question? Would the alternative be, "Good for you Helen! You asked only easy questions today!"

1. Because the theme this week was....
"The media is responsible for Bush's difficulties".

So it was time to pick on Helen.

4. Helen mentioned that Wolfie asked Clinton why he didn't resign,
that appeared to me to be her saying Wolfie asks hard questions of Democrats-but not Repukes, but maybe I read too much into it.

7. No you didn't. You are absolutely right.
He did ask the hard questions during the Clinton administration. He's gotta know he's fucked his credibility as a new's person by whoring for Bush and the Republicans.

She clearly pointed out the difference between her and Wolfie. "Come back to us - we'll welcome you." YEEE-OUCH!

12. Yes, that's what I think he was up to.
She politely handed his sycophant ass on a platter!

Sorry state of affairs when an octagenarean has to lead the way . . . but by god that's what she's doing! I adore her!

6. I didnt realize Helen was such a sweet gentle woman.
She impressed me with her honesty and her ability to take criticism and go with it.

The exact opposite of the ahole who banned her for 3 years. It could learn a thing or two from Ms Helen.

9. She doesn't get defensive, but . . .
just fires back with facts that continue to support her position. She's masterful.

14. The juxtaposition of COMPETENCE with INCOMPETENCE was clear.
I think this is why the media handles the Helen/Junior confrontations so gingerly. David Gregory seems to get it - surely a career-limiting aptitude. He'll eventually have to osculate a whole rosary-load of gluteus maximi to show his corporate contrition, I suppose.

23. (grin) I was being hyper-(pseudo)'erudite' for effect.
(It shows what passes for 'humor' in the company I've gotten drunk with all too often.) Just that David Gregory (a Helen Thomas acolyte?) will probably have to kiss butts to save his career after having thrown pointed questions at the poster boy for corporate stooge-hood.

That a news agency would realize that a reporter doing her job was . . . news!?

Cheeerist.

11. Wolf resorted to the ol' "what about 9/11?" defense, too, re: Iraq.
Of course, Helen "reminded" him that Iraq had nothing to do with it.

He can't be that goddamn fucking STUPID to bring that up. He's gotta be a shill. Hey, he used to work for Pat Robertson...didn't he?

Betcha there's a helluva story in there somewhere.

15. he tried to marginalize her
But she popped him in the kisser with that comment about his questions of Clinton. He shuffled his papers and said "Well, that was then and this is another time and place" or something to that effect.

Score one for Helen!

She essentially told him, "I have more integrity in my little finger than you have in your whole body, you bought-and-paid-for sycophant."

16. Rovian Meme Of The Weak Err Week...
The game is on to try to make booosh look like he's being picked on. How he's been unfairly victimized by the incompetence of his own people and the "MSM" (WTF is that???). It's attempting to frame the corporate media (who will comply as they always do) as being "too harsh" on the regime and trying to play to the dwindling Repugnican base in making booosh look like he's weathering a storm and to rally the troops.

Rolling him out to these non-press conference conferences is designed to create a confrontation...to attempt to play the media's unpopularity vs. his own and drag both down in the process.

A long time ago, Mike Malloy (when he was on WLS) saw the Repugnican game of dumbing down the electorate and especially their base as the way to dominate and control. Those who were energized show up to vote, those who were turned off just opt out of the system altogether...maximizing their numbers through minimalizing and trivializing the entire electoral process. Throwing mud at everyone is part of this strategy. The only difference now is how many people are aware of this game and are tired of the games this regime has tried to play and won't accept the constant buckpassing and straw man games.

Helen was singled out...and surely she knew it. Damn, I knew she was going to get a question in this morning...it was too much of a set up for it not to happen and had booosh not done it, it would have created a far greater shitstorm than what occured. My bets are they probably had Helen's question pegged to the exact verbage...and the confrontation along with the subsequent media "blitz" was as orchestrated as this regime can be. No sooner was her question being asked then the wingnut blogs were already blasting her question and the hate radio and telepundits were puffing up how "booosh" stood tough to an 80 year old lady.

And after all that crap...the asshat never did answer her question...

21. So you think they knew what she would ask?
I'm not so sure. But then, Bush is stupid enough not to have answered from a scripted response. And, no, he never did answer her question, even though she tried valiantly to get him to stick to Iraq.

25. Damn Right They Knew
Helen's been "back-benched" at the press gaggles for over 5 years...you don't think this regime knew that she'd be loaded with an anti-war question? Remember, this is the regime that has spinners working 24/7 on every possible issue and spin...you better believe they not only anticipated Thomas' question but that boosh's answer and the attentn paid to Thomas was also very, very deliberate and staged.

The good thing is Helen is tough as nails and while she is being used, she also is using...as while boooosh's ham-handed way of dealing with her surely got a bunch of high fives at the Rushbo ditto lounge, the vast majority of the country saw a very scared, angry, confused, small man who was scared shit of questions from an 80 year old lady.

There's a term you may have heard a time or two in passing- "Investigative Journalism". Learn it. Live it. Love it.
