Right-wing's love and hero-worship of George Bush makes it impossible...
...for them to look at the facts in a rational way. They accuse the left wing Democrats of just the exact opposite - they hate Bush so much they cannot see straight, they say. However, even if it is true about the hatred of Bush, the Democrats have the facts on their side. All that the Repubs have on their side is their belief that George W Bush is good and honest Christian. With that rationalization, it is not possible for George W Bush to do anything wrong. Bottom line, it is religion mixed with politics that has made it impossible for the American people to look at the facts and to agree on anything...

7. Those that still cling to Bush equate terrorism with Muslims
They are engaged in a "holy war" against a religion.

It's based on fear and racism, with a good dose of greed for other peoples' resources thrown in.

8. There is kind of a cult thing going on there
Bush speaks with such an air of certainty that some people would follow him no matter what he said. Just like Jim Jones or David Koresh

10. They don't give a damn about bush. What they do care about..........
is that their side wins, at all cost. That 25 to 30% are made up of profiteers (which I at least can understand the motivation) or that "my team" mentality combined with racism, stupidity, greed, anger and a serious inferiority complex.
Frankly, it's the same 30% that would support Hitler, Mussolini, or any other despot.

11. They don't love Bush. They hate you.
Well, me too. After all, there's a billboard that advertises a radio station with three words: "Liberals hate it!" Here's my journal entry on the subject. They are so alienated from America that they would rather see it go down the tubes than admit that you may have had a point.

Modifying my assessment of the Bush core supporter.

I have previously said that Bush's core support is mostly religious conservatives who know full well that the man is a craven incompetent, see the war is a failure, can see the human suffering from Katrina, but still support Bush because they hope to see the social agenda pushed through a packed supreme court and republican national hegemony reversing abortion rights and gay rights and establishing a religiously oriented state, and moreover, will lie all day long about approving of Bush's policies in order to protect him.

However, I think there is another element of America that will never, ever admit Bush is anything but right every single time.

The people who would rather have an incompetent, deadly president who rips them off and sends their family and friends to die, than to admit that the peaceniks, gays, democrats, minorities, city folk and liberals have a point.

The people who are so alienated from America that they saw the best thing about Bush is that a) "those people" hated him to distraction and therefore just having Bush as president was huge fun and b) that being "for Bush" meant that you had an ideological and cultural basis for hating all "those people" for a reason other than their money, education, success, etc.

I think it comes out in Katrina responses. The backflipping to find reasons why they don't like the DPs, don't care and shouldn't care, and why Bush is the best-----so much hate. One post I saw said the hurricane refugees were "liberal welfare criminal democrats", and he had the sense to leave out "black", but it was all the same---he isn't going to give up his hate in order to let any of YOU people score a point against Bush.

12. Liberals should call into that radio show
and profess their love for all humans - including that talk show host - but say that, far from hating them, they feel sorry for their misguided souls. Slam them with pity - now, that's something THEY hate. It makes them feel weak.

Laughing at them gets similar results.

14. But they're about 20% (tops) of the population
36% approval notwithstanding, your hardcore Bush lovers, i.e., the ones who will remain once he has bottomed out ratings-wise, are unreachable and not even worth the time spent trying.

17. Yesterday my daughter asked me what a koolaid drinker was.
they were discussing politics in her class during social studies, the teacher did not discuss his own politics but rather threw out a subject and had the kids discuss it and someone said "koolaid drinker" about Bush supporters. So anyhow i explain what it means, she's 11 1/2 but she got it totally.
