Digging up dirt on the 'Democratic Underground'

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To my friends at "Democratic Underground," you can call me an idiot or any other names you like. If I helped in some small way to expose the far left's hidden agenda and bring the impeachment issue to the front burner, mission accomplished.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A far-left Internet smear site bestowed yours truly with an award last week.

The Democratic Underground selected me as one of "The Top 10 Conservative Idiots" in the United States, or perhaps the world. It wasn't clear from the group’s Web site how extensive the nominating process was.

Snip...

At the time I wrote the column, that may have been a far-fetched scenario. But last week, Sen. Russ Feingold, a Democrat from Wisconsin who is more liberal than John Kerry and Ted Kennedy, introduced a measure to censure the president for ordering wiretaps of suspected terrorists who were calling contacts in the United States.

He's not at the Ann Coulter-level of bad writing, but still... he writes like a junior high schooler.

"Tony Phyrillas is an award-winning journalist with 24 years experience in the profession as a reporter, editor and columnist. He is a graduate of Penn State University. His columns appear three times a week in The Mercury, a two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning daily newspaper in Pennsylvania. His columns are also featured regularly on several national Web sites. He is a frequent guest on radio talk shows."

I wonder what kind of awards this dope has won?

Anyway, congratulations to him, for another award he can add to his impressive resumé.

He was on last weeks list... What I love about these "smear sites want to impeach" people is that they had no problem impeaching Clinton. I believe it was Kruthammer who said the far left has these "wacky impeachment" ideas. Yeah it was totally sane for Clinton to be impeached for lying about a blowjob but wacky for us to want Bush out because he lied about violating the constitution. When are these people going to figure out that we are all for spying on terrorists LEGALLY! They keep saying America supports spying on terrorists but they always leave out the part about doing it according to the laws that govern our country.

Here's a link to last week's "Idiots" page. He's #8 on the list. Maybe he's upset because he placed so low on the list. He's behind Colorado's Rep. Welker.

"When he realized that his racist email had caused an uproar in the Colorado General Assembly, Welker came up with the lame excuse that he forwarded the email "because of its message about society victimizing people by making them dependent on government programs.""

Our Mr. Welker makes a habit of forwarding e-mails like this. Perhaps Tony will try for a better spot on the Idiots page. And he has spelling issues.

No, rightwing dumbass Phyrillis. Doing that would be LEGAL. By passing the FISA court means he was doing illegal wire taps (not approved). The FISA court WOULD grant a wiretap of a suspected terrorist if he went through them.

43. Typical Republican response - no real answers, just spin
Tony Phyrillas wrote:
Secondly, there is a segment of American voters, including Democrats, who don't want to see Congress spend the next two years quibbling over another impeachment circus when the nation has so many real problems facing it.

In response to Tony Phyrillas:

The Republicans set the standard on this one. How many years and millions of taxpayer money did the Republicans spend to embarrass Clinton? And all they got on him was a BJ.

Yet Republicans will overlook real, serious issues, which put America and its Constitution in jeopardy. Tony, you seem to feel having a President that breaks the law is OK as long as he's left alone to deal with "real problems."

Well Tony, lying to America to start a war against a sovereign nation is a real problem.

So is looting the budget.

So is sending our troops to an illegal war without proper body armour and other necessities.

Being irresponsible by appointing cronies who are unqualified for positions within the government is a real problem, especially when people die because the job didn't get done.

Selling off America to foreign countries to finance an increasing debt load should be treasonous, and a "real problem."

Ignoring warnings that terrorists are set on creating a catastrophic event on American soil should also be treasonous, and is certainly a real problem for a President and his Administration.

Outsourcing American jobs, which hurts America and helps the foreign countries is a real problem.

So is the loss of quality jobs. (Note to Republicans: A minimum wage job at McDonald's is not a quality job. Neither is a job at Wal-Mart.)

Corruption in government is a real problem.

Lobbyists writing our laws and bribing members of Congress and their staffs is a real problem.

Having Executive Branch staff out an undercover CIA operative during a time of war is a real problem.

And the list goes on and on and on and on...

But the final, REALLY BIG REAL PROBLEM is this: Allowing a President to break the law. That's it. The President of the United States of America should be held to a higher standard than ordinary, average Americans. He should set the tone for the nation. It is unacceptable to not hold him accountable for his decisions and actions. To allow a President to violate the law makes all the laws in this land a mockery.

So if you think for one minute that he should get away with these deeds, and that an attempt to hold him accountable is just "quibbling," you - Tony - also have a real problem. It sounds to me like you deserve your award.

47. Question to Mr. Phyrillas
Edited on Wed Mar-22-06 05:12 PM by Jack Rabbit

Feingold really wants to impeach Bush, but he thought he would start with baby steps and introduce a Senate motion to publicly admonish the president
(sic) over the terrorist surveillance program.

And what, may I ask, is wrong with that?

Bush should be impeached. For violating Americans' civil liberties, war crimes (invading Iraq based on a pack of deliberate lies) and crimes against humanity (creating a maintaining a network of gulags -- no apology for the word -- where combat detainees are kept incommunicado without charge, tortured and in some cases killed).

And Mr. Cheney, too. For all that and war profiteering and willfully conspiring to disclose the identity of a covert agent.

Then both of them should be tried, convicted and sentenced by an international tribunal to spend the rest of their natural lives in the UN prison in The Hague.

The only thing I find wrong with impeachment is that the Bush/Cheney ticket lost the election of 2000. They have no right to exercise the power that they claim. It should suffice to simply throw Mr. Bush's personal belongings on the White House lawn, grab the squatter by the scruff of his neck, throw him face down with his trash and tell him to walk back to Crawford.

Then tell Interpol where the suspected war criminal can be apprehended.

Tell agent Mike to spell my name correctly when he reports this to the NSA.

92. Dear Douchebag.....
... you can't even get past your preamble without sticking your foot in it.

"for ordering wiretaps of suspected terrorists who were calling contacts in the United States"

Suspected terrorists? How do you know? Since Bush refused to get the FISA warrants, which are almost never denied and can be applied for after the tap, if they were actually terrorists why wouldn't he just follow the law?

If there was any way to ever know, I'd bet you any amount you will find that those surveilled were not "suspected terrorists" talking to overseas contacts. If there was ANY LEGITMATE REASON for these taps, the warrants would have been obtained. You figure it out, no wait, you are not capable of figuring anything out.

Let's just get down to brass tacks, if a Democrat had done this, the Republican outrage machine would be in overdrive. And let's face the fact, Democrats will eventually be in power again and when we are, we're not going to forget any of this, nor any of the people involved.

No, the censure was for breaking the law. He didn't get a FISA warrant....so how do we (or Mr. Phyrillas) know who he was wire tapping? I, for one, won't take the word of a person who is a documented serial liar.

Somehow, I believe everyone one of these hypocrites would do a 180 degree turn on a dime if it were a Democratic President who was caught doing what Bush has admitted to. What a bunch of cultist freaks.

108. I just sent the maroon a letter. Here it is:
Dear Mr. Phyrillas,
I am a regular on Democratic Underground but don't always read "The Top 10 Conservative Idiots" every week. Therefore I was unaware until a few minutes ago that you had been chosen for that honor. However, I can't resist commenting on a few points you brought up in your essay congratulating yourself on being among the chosen.

The first point is your claim that you exposed the Democratic Party's "hidden agenda" to impeach your so-called president. DU got a big collective laugh out of that one, because it's hardly a "hidden" agenda! We progressives (the people you call "far left" although most of us are actually center-left) want to impeach Bush so badly we can taste it! However, that just isn't possible until after the new Democratic Congress begins in January 2007.

But the funniest part of your essay is where you said: "...these kind of threats will rally Bush's base, which will turn out in November to make sure the House and Senate stay in GOP control."

OOOOOHHHH, Bush's formidable base! I am just SOOOO scared I'm shaking in my shoes! Bush's "base" is how big exactly? And growing by leaps and bounds, isn't it? The major polls seem to be running consistently at 33-37% approval, and I believe they are still padded. I suspect his true approval rating is about 30% or even lower. Well, the Republicans must have some secret plan to magically increase its size and/or fire it with enthusiam between now and November. About the only secret weapons that could possibly work for you are Diebold, Sequoia and ES&S. I will grant that they served you well in the past, but they are only reliable in close elections. If it looks like a Democratic landslide you're safer depending on popular support, which obviously would not exist.

So you can threaten us with "rallying your base" all you want, but it's an open secret now that you have very little base left to rally. Clearly DU showed its usual good judgment in naming you one of the "Top 10 Conservative Idiots." Congratulations, and I hope you move even further up the list in the future.

Sincerely,
Linda

118. Hey Tony! Remember the Clinton Impeachment?
I seem to recall plenty of Conservatives/Republicans "clarifying" for us on the Left that Clinton was Impeached for lying, not for having 'an adulterous affair in the Oval Office'. All the while, those same Conservatives/Republicans repeated over, and over, and over "OMG! He had an AFFAIR with a child, for God's sake! What am I going to tell my children?"

You're just doing the same old tricks as you and your ilk did with the Clinton "scandal". LIEING! You lie, lie, lie, lie, lie (ad nauseum to infinity). Yes, you do! You've repeated your lies so often that, typical of habitual liars, it is what you believe is true! (Please note intential use of "believe" vs. "know".) You are a habitual liar.

"But last week, Sen. Russ Feingold, a Democrat from Wisconsin who is more liberal than John Kerry and Ted Kennedy,..."
Sen. Feingold's degree of more or less liberal and Sens. Kerry and Kennedy is subjective. Unless you'ld like to provide some facts to back up your assertion. Regardless, it prefaces the outright lie of your next state only in an attempt to throw some horse droppings into the reader's mind.

"... introduced a measure to censure the president for ordering wiretaps of suspected terrorists who were calling contacts in the United States."
Outright, outragously blatant lie. It is not "for ordering wiretaps" but for NOT ordering wiretaps; it is not about "suspected terrorists...calling contacts in the US" but for domestic spying of Americans. Let's be clear: Senator Feingold's resolution for censure is about "Warrantless wiretapping on United States citizens".

The truth is very simple and much easier to remember.

He doesn't talk about what's right or wrong. It's all a big game, and he thinks he's discovered our "playbook". A$$*!!!

Since when does a president need to work around FISA to look at calls Bin Laden has made to him! He TOTALLY misses the point.

Since when is it a "hidden agenda" to ask for someone who's breaking the law to be punished! That's called ENFORCING THE LAW IDIOT! Ignoring it when it is a person in power is ceding authority to dictatorship!

The reason that Feingold's had a tough time getting Dem support is because of the cancerous reach of that criminal cabal of the Republican party infecting the Democcrats through the DLC, NOT because Americans and Democratic constituents don't want to have their reps support Feingold.

The Philly Enquirer is likely for sale not because of lack of readers versus other "conservative" papers, but because it's parent Knight Ridder is up for sale, thanks to some right wing investors seeking to disassemble it to get rid of their Knight Ridder bureau that still tries to practice old school *real* journalism that they can't handle.

2006 will be a time of payback! He'll not like the wrath Americans will have towards his ilk when we finally start to take down the cabal!

121. Tony, what are the awards you received, other than the one you got from

DU last week? BTW, the blatant lies in your most recent column should get you to the top of next week's list!

Oh, and the last person who challenged DU to put him on the top of the list of Conservative Idiots got his wish, and not long afterwards, was exposed as a total phony, fake, male prostitute, posing as a member of the WH press corps. I remember that!!

Tony doesn't mind a bunch of strangers spying on him, because 'he has nothing to hide'!! Typical backwards thinking of a 'Conservative Idiot' which totally demonstrates his qualifications for the award he got. Let's see if we can help him:

IF YOU HAVE NOTHING TO HIDE, THEN WHY IS YOUR GOVERNMENT SPYING ON YOU?? Sorry for yelling, but Conservative Idiots are hard to reach with facts!

Another reason for even a Conservative Idiot to worry about Bush's Domestic Spying program:

ASHCROFT REFUSED TO GO ALONG WITH IT!! That's how illegal this program is.

Oh, and stop telling lies, Tony ~ Feingold wants Bush censured for warrantless spying on innocent American citizens, which is ILLEGAL!!

I gazed into the crystal ball to predict what a Democratic administration would look like if the Democrats win control of both houses of Congress this November and then proceed with their plans to impeach George W. Bush.

He had to look in a CRYSTAL BALL so he could predict that??? Why didn't he just come to DU and he could have put his crystal ball away.

Wow, I used to think the Top Ten Conservative Idiots thing was a joke, but it's not. They really are idiots, and this one claims to be an award-winning one.

125. Okay, who hid the agenda?

If he'd actually read DU he couldn't, in good conscience, have written such blather. Not all members are liberals and we don't even agree about Feingold! Gee, guess his feelings got hurt. Good work, DU! :bounce:

Edit for spelling...as usual
