Is Bush the Leader Of Our Gov-Or A Right-Wing Talk-Show Host?--E J Dionne
In Charge, Except They're Not

By E. J. Dionne Jr.
Friday, March 24, 2006; Page A19

Is President Bush the leader of our government, or is he just a right-wing talk-show host?

The question comes to mind after Bush's news conference this week in which he sounded like someone who has no control over the government he is in charge of. His words were those of a pundit inveighing against the evils of bureaucrats.

"Obviously," said the critic in chief, "there are some times when government bureaucracies haven't responded the way we wanted them to, and like citizens, you know, I don't like that at all." Yes, and if you can't do something about it, who can?

..........

Hold on: The president of the United States runs the "big government" he's attacking. This is mysterious. If Bush's "good, hardworking people" aren't responsible for the problem, the villains of the piece must be alien creatures created by some strange beast called Big Government.

take loyalty oaths to Jesus.

How is our President supposed to get action from a bureaucratic mass of secularites? Many of whom aren't even white or from the Heartland. There are Sodomites in this army of layabouts! There are Socialists, and Muslims and Hindus! There are self-confessed witches! Of course things are fouled up. It's like the Government's pulling in two different directions: Bush's way versus the secular, sodomitical, socialist's way--or more succinctly, Yahweh versus the "Road to Serfdom."
There's no loyalty to God. You know that because if there were loyalty to God, no one would raise objections to loyalty pledges. And where there is no loyalty to God there you will see opposition to God's Plan in ten thousand different forms and variations. So, it's oaths or anarchy, your choice.

And of course you Liberals would just go BERZERK if the Government were to do what it needs to do and started requiring oaths to Jesus. I can just imagine how you'd all scream Bloody Murder. It's not asking much for bureaucrat factotums and menials to pledge not to obstruct and subvert God's Plan, since they are drawing pay and benefits (inscribed with IN GOD WE TRUST need I remind you?) from the very body which is to implement His Plan. But no, let's be politically correct about things, let's not require Godly loyalty oaths. Let's have God's plan carried out by an independent non-partisan "civil service". Notice how much that sounds like civil unions--aka gay marriage? Non-partisan? Why not just make the "civil service" a bunch of tambourine shaking non-denominationals and Unitarian Universalists? Non-partisan is just a Liberal excuse to exclude Republicans from Federal jobs. (It's the nature of our Republican faith to proselytize and punish the incorrigible; you persecute us by restraining our strong, correcting hand!) Non-denominational is just another Liberal excuse to push God out of His place on Earth. (which is everyplace!) Non-denominational is therefore Pro-Demon-national! You won't give President Bush the Governmental means he needs to carry out Providence, and then you complain that he's not doing a good enough job to suit you. Well no wonder. You set him up to fail, and you don't want him to succeed in the first place.
Unbelievers!
You're all out to sabotage Him.
