and how they did they do it under the radar, and how come they're getting press from corporate media?

and than on to radio last Wednesday! It only took them two days to do this... AMAZING!

or listen to latino radio, it was relatively easy for them to sneak these events in!

however, you must all keep in mind that the Latino community is very politically conscious. There is no apathy here.

We started hearing about it at least a month ago.

First, you post that it couldn't have been organized by ANSWER because it was so effective, then, after learning that it was organized by ANSWER, you criticize them for not being effective enough.

I guess you are just determined to trash ANSWER no matter what they do.

corporations love cheap labor? I would imagine that there is a buttload of corporate $ behind the protests as well.

I haven't really been paying attention to it....other fish to fry...but the numbers and media coverage suggest $$$$$

they put half a million people on the streets in LA, a couple hundred thousand in Chicago, tens of thousands in other cities. This is a huge mobilization.

It doesn't take some corporate conspiracy to figure out why these marches are being covered.

Have not been turning out to protest the Bush Adminiatration, Republicans, the Irag War,the eroding of US citizens' civil liberties. Do they know that non-citizens are not protected by the US constitution? Check with the "detainees" kept in Guantanemo, Cuba.

Immigration is easy to fix, fine the owners of companies that hire illegals. I would guess most of the owners of the corporations and business owners are good bible thinping Republicans who don't mind exploiting Mexican or other foreign labor, pay them far less than they would a US citizen, give them no employment protections, sick leave, family, medical coverage and pensions, let alone breaks, lunches and ovetime pay. These Good Christian and religious of other faiths who own companies have no problem replacing US citizens with illegal foreign workers. Such foreign workers clog up the hospital emergencies rooms, fill up and overcrowd housing driving up prices for all working families and supress wages for all US working citizens.

Now, why would any good, God fearing Republican and many Democrats want to fix that system, its perfect! Of course not for the illegal workers nor American workers.

What a Country!

My local anti war group has many Hispanic members. We are also lobbying and circulating petitions demanding Medicaid reform in this state (the leg. cut it back severely a year ago). The woman who initiated the petition drive is Hispanic and several of our task force members are Hispanic.

plus church etc.. we're talking about people who know something about community, through decades and centuries of oppression, and struggle know what solidarity is.

have to pay attention to a million (at least) marching in LA, even if they say it is 500,000.
And a few 10's of thousands in other cities. Also the Roman Catholic Bishops have been talking about social justice (doesn't include women as childbearers yet) but poverty and stuff like that.
Jeez I wish it were the Socialists and Anti-war groups who were organizing this and got the same response!
