I want my (pre-Bush II) country back.
For all its flaws, imperfections, and even injustices, it was still better than anywhere else. I don't think we can truthfully say the same today. I really don't. I never used to believe dictatorship would be possible here, but the possibility doesn't seem to be quite as ridiculous as it used to.

1. I want my PRE RONALD FUCKING REAGAN country back
I want a country where families aren't homeless, where people generally earn enough even at menial jobs to keep themselves together and solvent, where people who consider themselves middle class aren't falling deeper into debt every year because they've needed credit card to cover health care costs or even food at the end of the month and where the FUCKING RICH and CORPORATE pay their fair share of taxes to support the FUCKING MILITARY they depend on to keep the world in line so the money keeps rolling in.

3. I want my pre-Columbus country back
Some of the indian tribes destroyed in the white settlers great theft,
were as close to an enlightened democratic government as i've ever
heard of on earth. So they came and destroyed them, hoping that
somehow in eating their souls, they would become enlightened democrats.

4. donsu is correct
We still do not understand the extent of the damage done by the Repugs; we will not know until they are gone from Wash DC and the mop-up begins.

But the damage will be enormous, extensive and world wide. And will last for many generations.

7. Aren't you being optimistic when you say "many generations?"
I personally feel that civilization may not last that long with all these idiots arguing about their personal favorite religious superstitions instead of looking at the long term future of the human race.

9. You are right of course, many generations if we are lucky
There is a case to be made that we will all be blown to bits.

12. Or blown away in storms because there is no fuel to evacuate
with, or starve because the food distribution system, which relies on petroleum, fertilizer and plastics cease to function.

6. You all have a Pre-9/11 mindset, and I am ashamed of you!

Don't you realize 9/11 changed everything, and the GWOT is forever....therefore, our vision of Amurka-of-old can never be realized.

I am ashamed of each of you for not realizing this ultimate truth.

8. I was just watching Pat Roberts on Wolf,
and heard his holiness say that if the media doesn't stop talking about the Warantless Spy Program, then it will no longer be effective....he went on to say that there are sleeper-cells and embedded terrorists right now in Amurka, just waiting their chance to destroy us all.

I have been thinking....(hard werrrrk)...do the rest of you guys think there are really sleeper cells here, and embedded terrorists?? Or, was 9/11 a "one-shot" deal?? If there were sleeper cells and terrorists here, wouldn't bushco have captured them and made a big deal of how they are protecting the country?

Are we in danger from attacks from within? Seriously.

embedded "terrorists, spies, evil-doers" of one variety or another in America.

So do we exchange our freedoms for what is (given the UAE administering port security, China checking out the cargo security, and the UAE apparently owning a major railway system to name only three) a safety that is nothing more than illusion?
