Burns of Montana... I win! His own party wants him to hang up his hat and spurs. But bless his heart (and completely out of touch brain) he is pounding on the podium and promising nobody's gonna run him off!

Good on ya, Senator! Keep that attitude and hang tough. We will have a DEM replacement sworn in come next January fer sur!

79. Call him out on that one! Keep that lie of his front and center
Do not let him claim he never equated Saddam with Al Qaeda! Do not let your neighbors forget he has tried to manipulate them by misleading them!

How many newspapers in the Great State of Utah? LTTE to each and every one reminding them that Orrin thinks people are stupid and feels no hesitation to lie to them would help make Hatch face his transgressions.

Remind your neighbors about how little regard Hatch has for them and for the truth! Ask them what should be done with an employee who lies, cheats and disrespects his bosses, the PEOPLE of Utah!

38. He's a veterinarian AND a senator
Dear {neebob}:

Thank you for writing regarding S. 1915, the Virgie S. Arden American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act. I appreciate that you have taken the time to share your thoughts.

I am in a unique position as both a veterinarian and a Senator to emphasize the need for the ethical treatment of animals and to properly evaluate federal legislation dealing with animal welfare. I support strict enforcement of the federal Animal Welfare Act and welcome state initiatives that take steps to protect animals from abuse.

S. 1915 was introduced in the Senate by Senator John Ensign of Nevada on October 25, 2005, and was referred to the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. This bill would amend the Horse Protection Act to prohibit the shipping, transporting, moving, delivering, receiving, possessing, purchasing, selling, or donation of horses and other equines to be slaughtered for human consumption.

Horse slaughter is a symptom of a larger issue: that of what to do with unwanted horses. There is a fear that the unintended consequence of this amendment will be a lesser standard of care for horses, resulting in the abuse or neglect of unwanted horses. I must look at this issue from the standpoint of horse care and welfare. Currently 50,000 - 70,000 horses are slaughtered annually. The American Association of Equine Practitioners estimates that basic subsistence care will cost nearly $1,900 a year per horse if humane slaughter is ended in the United States. This does not include veterinary or farrier services. If owners who do not wish to go to the expense of maintaining unwanted horses and do not want to pay the cost of euthanasia do not have the option of selling their horse for slaughter, the likely outcome in many cases is neglect. For these reasons, the American Veterinary Medical Association, The American Association of Equine Practitioners, the Colorado Horse Council, and the Farm Bureau all opposed this legislation.

Should this bill be brought to the Senate floor for a vote, I will be sure to keep your thoughts in mind. For more information regarding this and other important issues, please feel free to visit my website at http://allard.senate.gov. I look forward to hearing from you in the future.

Sincerely,

A. Wayne Allard
United States Senator

WA:dr

This is only the most recent and not the stupidest auto-reply I've received from A. Wayne Dullard. He's a contender as far as I'm concerned. But maybe we should save him for the my-senator-looks-dumber-than-your-senator contest.

America, are you noticing a trend here?

The GOP is still accusing the DEMS as being 'those Tax and Spend liberal'. But America, look at the numbers. Look at what the GOP has done to the Treasury. All that money gone. Over $30,000 presently owed by every man, woman, and child in America on the money the GOP in power has borrowed. And what have you got for this outrageous debt?

America, it might be a good idea to throw out the party of spendthrifts and liars!

67. Bunning is suffering from Reagan's Disease - complete
dementia. Fortunately for him (really, really bad for us) he has Lyin Mitch McConnell to mark his votes for him as necessary. Kentucky has only one Senator that just happens to get to vote on all legislation twice. As far as having the two WORST senators from one state Kentucky wins hands down.

McConnell and Bunning - Dumb and Dumber with a generous dose of hate, fear mongering and corporate shilling to keep themselves white, rich and in power. Look up corrupt in the dictionary - there's McConnell. Look up hypocrisy - McConnell, look up lyin, thiving, asswipe - McConnell, McConnell, McConnell.

Bunning actually demanded a Secret Service detail back in 2004 when he ran for re-election because he was sure that terrorists were gunning for him. He agreed to a live debate with his opponent and at the last minute refused to come to the Lexington TV studio, as planned, to debate. He spoke from the Republican Party headquarters in DC by video conferencing and had a off camera GOP henchmen feeding him the answers. When he was still trailing in the polls he dug out the terrorism and gay card to bash his opponent. His opponent was a young, darker skin of Italian descent doctor than has never married. Of course he must be a gay terrorist! Bunning is a perfect example of who the Kentucky GOP considers a good elected official.

McConnell is an asswipe who doesn't give two hoots about Kentucky or this country. He is all about money and power. Period.

72. Thanks for giving specifics about the character of your senator!
We need MORE of that. More reminders from now through election day! More testimonials about the corrupt, morally bankrupt behaviors, attitudes and actions of the GOP majority that has gotten this nation into the mess it is in!

EVERYBODY: sing out loud and clear about the horrible job your GOP senators have been doing! Call talk shows. Write LTTE. Flood message boards and chat rooms with the cold, hard, UGLY facts about what these people have done. Name names. Name the transgressions. Say it clear and OFTEN.

Let the GOP ramble vaguely and recite talking points. WE NEED TO GET DOWN TO SPECIFICS! Tell the truth! Let them try to run from that! This nation is going to hell on THEIR WATCH! Make them answer for it on the public stage!

Take your righteous indignation, your embarrassment, your anger, your concerns and get vocal about them! Not just here, but out in your community! Out in public. Make noise, name names and list the crimes!

Take your government back! Work to change the numbers on the Hill. Work to help your neighbors hear the truth. Work to help them get involved too. Be an inspriation to others. Walk the walk and talk the truth.

Beat these bastards!

70. Has Lugar, or ANY GOP senator, mentioned what constitutes a WIN in Iraq?
Has ANY one of them even said what the goal in Iraq is? I mean it! What is the objective? What is it our troops are dropping for? What is it the GOP is bankrupting the nation for? Just what is the reason for violating international laws and American principles in this fiasco?

What is it they set about to do? Left without any clear answers, we must fill in the blanks ourselves. So far, all I have is they did it for the $$ for their corporate sponsors and the ONLY objective is to keep at it until their is no more money to be sucked out and no more credit line to borrow against.

Is THAT the GOP's nobel reason? Is THAT the win? They sure as hell haven't given us any other clear objective!

America, ask the GOP majority on the Hill just what the objective is! What would constitute a win in Iraq? If they can't give a clear, concise, and consistent answer, ask them why they keep writing blank checks for the bush malAdministration to spend on their cronies and pals. Ask them why they cannot define ANY reasons for all the deaths of Americans & Iraqis, all the horrible injuries of Americans & Iraqis, all the damage to America's good name.

Ask them straight up! If they don't give you answers you agree with, FIRE THEIR ASSES! If they won't do their job of oversight, they are derelict and need to be thrown the hell OUT. If they are only going to nod and rubber stamp bushco edicts, they are pointless and we should throw them the hell off the payroll!

America, it's YOUR government. Make them understand that fact!

44. One of my senators is completely in touch with reality (Feingold)
and we spend a lot of time asking the other senator (Kohl) why he can't try to be more like him!

Cat killer needs to have his feet held to some heat for his outrageous lies!

You summed him up pretty well there tnlefty! Thank you for hitting on the high points of his crimes against logic, sanity and the nation!

Yep, he's gotta go. His worst trait is thinking the fine people of Tennessee are stupid and believe his outrageous lies! We know better! The people of the beautiful state of Tennessee sure as hell know better!

Obama and Durkin. Nice to have two Dems. But, in my heart, Tom Harkin will always be my senator.
I don't miss Grassley, though.

and where are you from? I'm appalled at politics in Illinois. Who knew I'd miss the occasional lawsuits by Iverson (who was my state senator/asshole) and the GOP against Vilsack! Now it seems quaint.

89. Originally from Des Moines
We moved first to aurora and then found a house south of chicago in crete.
If you haven't heard of it I wouldn't be surprised. Its pretty small
about 2-3 miles east of the Indiana border. Near Chicago Heights, Matteson,
and Ford Heights.
Where are you at/from ?

92. I was born in Davenport
We moved from there to Kewanee, IL when I was 12. Went to Davenport often, though. I know Crete. My first church was in (actually, the church is still there, I'm the one who moved) Peotone.

I just returned to Illinois (Ottawa) from Eagle Grove. I really miss Iowa. I often go to Davenport on my day off, because it just feels good to be on that side of the river! And two former parishioners recently moved there, and it's good to see them.

I've spent most of my life going back and forth across the Mississippi. But Iowa is home. I've decided that I'm retiring there for sure. I'm thinking Grinnell.

93. I go back and forth across the river a lot too
My parents and my husbands parents live in Des moines still
so we spend a lot of time going back and forth.

Grinnell is pretty rural.. I have an uncle who lives there.
Myself I would prefer some place a little warmer to retire to. :)

94. I love Iowa, and I especially love rural Iow. My psyche needs
open space! And Grinnell is a nice mix of open space and culture. And there's a nice retirement community there that gives a "deal" to clergy in my denomination.

Definitely retiring to Grinnell!

Make sure it stays that way! Keep an eye on the GOP and never let them get away with one single fib about your Senators! Do not stop being vigilant. Take good care of what you have, and groom others for the future!

Work for stronger local DEM candidates and make damn sure elections are on the up & up!

Good job Illinois!

75. Ya'll have got to be kidding
You just have one senator that sucks, I have two.

The Senior Senator is Thad Cochran. He mostly plays behind the scenes, but don't forget he was 1 of 2 senators that voted for expanding the patriot act, and voted with bush in favor of torture.

The Junior Senator is Trent Lott. Given, Lott is probably better than Jeff Sessions (esp since Katrina), but, he's Trent Lott.

78. If Cochran plays behind the scenes, time to throw more light on him!
Keep reminding people about his votes on in favor of weakening the Constitution via the Patriot Act. Keep reminding people he is in favor of sullying the good name of the United States of America and of putting our military personnel at greater risks by standing with bush and saying torture is just fine with him!

You put it so well here, Sgent. If I give you some stamps for the postage, will ya put it in some LTTE on a regular basis? ;) Get your voice out there, you have something to offer America by reminding your neighbors just what sort of scoundrels you have in the Senate!

Keep up the good work!

91. RICHARD BURR
The Senate voted 79-19 to require Bush to identify a strategy for withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq.

Burr voted no.

The Senate demanded -- on an 82-9 vote -- that the Bush administration give Congress details on allegations that the CIA flew terrorism suspects to a series of secret torture prisons in other parts of the world.

Burr voted no.

The carpetbagger Elizabeth Dole is good for a laugh too. She claims the she and Bob Dole, the lobbyist for Dubai Ports World, never discussed the ports deal. Yes, they must be the only couple in the world who have never discussed that topic.
