West Wing tonight, with Jon Bon Jovi

reprising his role during the Kerry campaign.

I am going to miss this program but as was recently written, this is about a make believe president and a make believe white house. President Logan from "24" is a lot more realistic of Nixon and of Bush.

3. It's too bad they're cancelling WW when it's just getting good again.

The writing the past couple of seasons has been as good as ever, IMO. And, to tell the truth, I've really liked Alda's portrayal of a moderate Republican trying to fight the forces of the Christian Right in his own party. They're really throwing away gold by not continuing WW with a Vinick administration.

and it was very realistic, last time, how Vinick could lose if he did not appeal to "the base" and the base are the rabid fanatics who all they are thinking of "baby killers" and "perverts."

This is Rove specialty. It is not as if they think that Bush is a genius, or even a nice guy. No, they voted for him because he promised to reverse Roe and to crowd the courts with Thomas and Scalitos.

5. I kinda hope Vinik wins, too...

Alda plays him as basically a decent guy who's trying to keep the Neanderthals at bay. A conservative, but not a fascist or lunatic...and Alda himself is such a decent guy that anyone he plays is decent, too. And his press conference outside the nuclear plant was really gutsy. And am I the only one who finds Santos OK, but a little slippery? Oh, I'd probably vote for him...but I wish a Vinik really could be the GOP nominee...

Both would be good presidents and I really liked Vinnick doing the press conference outside the nuclear plant. I knew how it would play and didn't see the bad side of it. Vinnick does not need to play to the base, IMO. I think he could win without the RW nutjobs and I love how they highlighted that the repub base is nuts.

I was a little turned off with Santos tonight for doing that Halloween thing with his kids. I know he wants to win, but I think this went too far for my own comfort level.

Next week...Leo :cry:

8. If this were an actual election...

I might actually vote for Vinick. Santos just seems... too inexperienced. Maybe it's just the way the writers have portrayed the campaign, but Santos feels like a little like an empty suit at times, ready to say or do whatever his handlers tell him in order to win. Alda portrays Vinick as someone who is the same whether he's talking to a member of his staff or to a member of the press. I guess this is a way of saying that, in policy, Santos has the edge, but in terms of leadership and character, I'm leaning Vinick.

But, of course, maybe the writers just haven't shown us Vinick's dark side. :)
