Busting Saddam and his Cabal out of Jail
I bet that the Insurgency would bust him and them out as soon as the US withdraws enough troops for them to manage that operation.

1. You're kidding, right?
He's about as popular as the plague, except for blood relations. The insurgency didn't really pick up speed until Saddam was captured. After that, people who joined weren't risking being labelled as his supporters.

2. Not hard to imagine at all...
...although Saddam's a pretty old guy now and no longer has heirs (since Oody and Coody are out of the picture) - a successor isn't very clear if Saddam were to take a dirt nap.

3. I don't think so.
Too many people with good reason to hate Saddam. There's a big difference between a Saddam who has lost power and his bodyguards vs. a Saddam who still has control of the military. My guess is that the only people/things they hate more than Saddam would be us at this point.

4. "He's about as popular as the plague."
I think that the Sunni part of the Insurgency would disagree with that statement.

5. As much as the Iraqis hate America, I don't think they want Saddam back
You will see a new more deadly regime take power in Iraq once Saddam and the US are out of the picture.

6. Of course the Shi'ites and Kurds loath Saddam.
The Sunni comprise about 10 Million. They may be a Minority in Iraq but that is still a lot of people.

7. It would be better for Saddam to stay and win his trial.
If he were busted out, I would suspect a plot to kill him without a trial.

8. This is only P1 of a trial. Three more to go.
Saddam is not the only one on trial, btw. I am not a Saddam fan yet I feel that this trial is a sham. He supposedly ordered the execution of 140 Shi'ites. The Shi'ites tried to overthrow him. Would US people who have tried to overthrow a Pres. get the DP?
