Do border fences only work on those coming in?
I would like to ask all of those people who want a fence at the border one question:
Does the fence work for people attempting to come in only?

Last time I checked fences don't bow down to the people who construct them. While right now our nation may very well be a great place to live, it may not always be such a place. (If you read my simple post about America's decline you'd understand what I am talking about. It is available here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x758263 ) I am saddened that our xenophobia and just general hate has been used against our people in such a way. We deserve what we get though, we are all so fat and happy and stupid that it is only a matter of time before the instruments of government are taken by a person with less than honorable intentions. No matter what party or person. (Though I think the Republicans have beaten everyone else to it.)

2. Absolutely. Americans need to cut back on the hamburgers
and french fries and milk shakes.

It seems to be clogging up our ability to see what's happening in front of our very eyes.

Great point you made and Welcome to DU****

3. I think you've hit upon a very good question..

I often have wondered it myself.. I also wonder about the detention centers that KBR just got the contracts to build within the states.. They claim that they are for ICE, and the implementation of "new programs," but who's to say that is really the truth? They lie about everything, why should we think that this is any different? They could lock up dissenters in the camps just about as easily as "illegals." That would be the ultimate alibi.. People aren't going to ask tough questions about the detention centers if they think they are for "illegals."

on edit- Here is a link to the story, and thread about the KBR detention center contracts-

4. Same with the strict new passport rules.
They mean to keep us here when things get ugly.

Remember East Germany?

Anybody leaving the United States, maybe because they don't want to get drafted or otherwise contribute to the U.S. empire and police state, will be labeled a traitor and imprisoned.

We can stop these horrors now or we will suffer the consequences later. "The instruments of government" have already been "taken by a person with less than honorable intentions." but the history of the United States is rife with such. It's nothing new.

The only limit to fascism and racism in this nation has always been the will of the people to fight for their civil rights.

Judging by your posts, originalpckelly, you are a Libertarian, yes? Did you ever think the Republicans were on your side? I never thought so, since before Reagan. The Republicans always say one thing and do another.

I'm not a Libertarian myself, btw, I'm probably to the left of the DU's center, which makes me a screaming radical socialist to the rest of the nation. But I notice more and more Libertarians are now looking at the Republicans with renewed disgust and bitter feelings of betrayal.

Welcome to DU, if you are indeed new here. I clicked your profile but I see it is disabled. You'll notice my own profile is on, however little information it contains. But quite a few people here on DU know who I am. Whenever you are standing up for your rights, you can accomplish much more if you don't do it anonymously.
