watching an L.A. high school walkout/march right now!
Sitting in an internet cafe across from a high school in the San Fernando valley, and a bunch of students just poured out to march and chant along the main boulevard...

A cop car is slowly following them...

So far, it's quiet, in a "march" context... (i.e., no arrests, nothing broken, etc.) Kinda great to see "the kids" getting all riled up and taking to the streets...

4. Who Cares ........ ?
probably about immigration of course but ...... but wouldn't it be great if every citizen, legal or not in this Country just got up and walked out to the streets spontaneously. From their jobs, schools, homes etc.. etc.. In protest to the Bush crime family policy's, repubs abusive use of power etc... etc... or whatever gets your goat. Think we can learn from these kids spontaneous protests. Peace. :toast:

I'd heard earlier that there was one walkout or protest in support of the Sensenbrenner bill. I had no idea who was walking out, or why.

As the day has progressed, the news has gotten steadily "better" in that regard.

5. Starting to remind me of the 60's

and the Civil Rights issues, finally the kids are waking up and participating in their government.

As an old school teacher my heart says they should stay in school.

As an activist, my heart says, " Get out in The Streets and Let The World Know, in a peaceful way, that something is WRONG with our government and it needs fixing.

10. Viva La Huelga!
Our high schools walked out on the 16th, to protest the War, but it was organized by their Peace and Justice Club which is mostly comprised of MEChA members. The school administrations quick put a damper on that type of action, so our Chicanos are facing punishment if it happens again during this spectacular "March Movement".
