16. sounds like you sent your child to school to become a drone

This walkout is current events 101.

By the way, school does not equal prison.

19. That drone spent 8 years in the Navy
And is now an RN and a flight nurse in West Tx.

I'll judge her by her accomplishments, you can judge her anyway you want.

18. Not all education happens in a classroom
And these days, indeed, more of a civics lesson would be learned to participate in non-violent dissent.
The kids that walked out learned the best lesson that our country has to offer.
They have a voice. They have a choice.

22. blindly following orders is a subject that history has much to teach about

but you probably wouldn't learn those lessons even if they were presented to you in a very basic way.

I'm one of the 71%. Even if it's an act of conscience, breaking the rules has consequences.

If they had walked out of classes to protest the war, I wonder if there would be so many disapproving voices on DU.

Exactly.

They are utilizing their right to free speech.

The other polls were good questions also.
Build a wall! :eyes: Deport them! Who the hell is gonna round up 11 million people?!:eyes: Sure, tack those costs to the budget.

11. Some of the other polls
66% say "yes" to building a wall
47% say "deport all illegals" (that's a majority)

I live in TX and Dallas has never been a bastion of liberal thinking, but GOD DAMN people. You can't just toss out a major part of your society and expect the city to still function (businesses, etc).
You'd think it would be common sense!!

23. I said yes.
I respect their right to say what they want to say, but if they do so on school time, they should be ready to face the consequences.

Or they could march on a Saturday.

(That being said, the punishment should be reasonable...)

24. Sounds like the punishment will be pretty light...
"Dallas school officials said the students who participated in the rallies would receive an unexcused absence."

I'll bet the "majorities" on all three polls will be disappointed. I know that Houston is not a liberal paradise, but I feel for any DU'ers in the Metroplex.

DU'rs
two students were arrested here yesterday, for truancy and one more for lynching (trying to free them). These kids could be our ground troops in the next election
