What Loophole Allows U.S. Chamber Of Commerce To Promote Schwarzenegger ?
Since when is advocating for an individual politician, an "issue ad" ???

I assume the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is privately funded, but it seems a bit close to the edge.

Question: What's the edge these days, LOL!

You can see the ads here: http://www.uschamber.com/ca/default

(For those of you who don't live in Cal, and therefore are not getting bombarded with these things 40 times a day, ALREADY!)

And...

Somethin related from Public Citizen: http://www.stealthpacs.org/funded.cfm?org_id=43

Any campaign finance experts care to enlighten a Californian being strafed by the Boobengrabber?

:wtf:

5. They're like Libertarians, only more stealthy.
Co-opters of political parties.

If rethugs do it, it's okay.
How many Progressive ads are networks refusing to run for flimsy, trumped-up reasons?

On edit:
HUH? The Chamber of Commerce is claiming to be non-profit?!

6. non-profit?
Couldn't find that on their webpage. In fact, it appears political activism constitutes the major thrust...with a bit of conman type 'we'll help you' thrown into the mix. I'm trying to find out if a local C of C with non-profit status has any business publically endorsing one candidate over another. If anyone knows what the law says, I'd be grateful for a link.

7. I was looking at this link in the OP:
http://www.stealthpacs.org/funded.cfm?org_id=43

Public Citizen
The New Stealth PACs
Tracking 501(c) Non-Profit Groups Active in Elections

Did I misunderstand?

9. Thank you.
I missed that. Now I guess I have to check out the difference between 501 (c) vs 501 (?).

Our local Chamber did a big endorsement last week and I think they are out of line. They're a non-profit funded by membership (and other sources) and I would be livid if I were a member. As it is, I'm annoyed.

11. They also encourage businesses to move off-shore for the tax breaks.
They are wholly anti-American.

8. I couldn't find that either.
We were looking for the same thing. I did learn a quite a lot about the C of C too!

I can't believe a non-profit can endorse anyone but I have a long history littered with ugly, if spectacular, examples of my foolishness. It seems so illogical, that it is why I set out on the search in the first place.

10. I must be your missing twin.
When something seems illogical to me, I find out it's just unethical or illegal. :)
