Andy Card Says It's A New Season. Could It Be Fall?

Rumors and leaks have been swirling around DC this week about Rove cooperating with Fitzgerald and about who may possibly be indicted next in the investigation of who outed Valerie Plame. Libby, too, is said to be talking and bringing others into the investigation. There are said to be two camps within the West Wing, Rove in one, Libby the other.

While giving his retirement remarks today Andy Card said "it is a new season". So, could it be fall, when the aspens turn in clumps at their roots?

2. IMO, Card got out while the gettin' was good. That doesn't mean

he's free of criticism, and I could start with Hurricane Andrew under poppy, and Katrina under dimson. And there is an ongoing war that he's very much connected to.

"Aspens turning in clumps at their roots" references a line from a letter that Libby wrote to Judith Miller while she was in jail for refusing to identify who leaked Valerie Plame's name to the press. The bizzarre letter was widely accepted to have been "code" and was the topic of conversation not only in the blogosphere, but in the corporate media as well. Many of us here came to believe that that particular line referred to the two different WH camps and who was going to snitch out who to the Feds.
