Dan Savage launches "Impeach The Mother Fucker Already.com"
Edited on Tue Mar-28-06 11:37 PM by Hissyspit
Via Americablog. Don't know if this has been posted here before, but I haven't seen it...

http://www.itmfa.com/

Official ITMFA Buttons and Lapel Pins Now Available!
So they're in—official, Savage-designed, ready-to-order ITMFA buttons and lapel pins! The lapel pins are going to be $5 each and the buttons are going to be $1.50 a piece or three for $2.50—remember, once the expense of having the buttons and lapel pins made is covered, all profits go to the ACLU. The total cost of the merch was just under $1,000—lapel pins are pricey!—and I'll post a full accounting once sales begin. Here are pics of the actual buttons and lapel pins...

- snip -

Welcome to ImpeachTheMotherFuckerAlready.com —the url is a bit unwieldy, I realize, and I have no one to blame for that but myself. I foolishly neglected to buy the more obvious domain name—ITMFA.com—before I wrote about it in my column. By the time I decided to get a domain name, the good url was gone. Too bad, so sad.

If you’re just joining us, you’re probably wondering what ITMFA all about. Well, it stands for “impeach the motherfucker already,” which, er, I guess you kinda had to know if you found your way to this website. I’m your host, Dan Savage, and I’m the author of Savage Love, a widely syndicated sex advice column. I have been advising people in shit relationships to DTMFA for years (“dump the motherfucker already”) and a Savage Love reader suggested that I attempt to popularize ITMFA.

- snip -

That's the tasteful lapel pin on the left, and the confrontational button the right. As soon as they're in, I'll be pushing them here. In the meantime, feel free to create your own ITMFA merch—and be sure to send me pictures of you and your friends wearing your ITMFA buttons, t-shirts, thongs, titclamps—whatever—so I can post 'em here. You can email me at mail@savagelove.net.

And, if I do say so myself, Pitter-pat is much smarter and better looking!

16. Buy my stuff
Don't get me wrong, I support anyone who supports impeaching the putz, but what we have here is a storefront selling stuff. Over 95% of the content is self-promotional, designed to get people to buy stuff.

I've seen this before. It's kind of sad.

18. I don't get what you're saying here. The site takes you to a shopping cart
for just the two products. From reading the site, he says that the first grand will cover his expenses and then the rest goes to the ACLU.

I bought a lapel pin and three buttons last night.

19. Sorry, but Dan Savage is DA BOMB...
and it is NOT about us just "buying his merchandise". If the man can get a word entered into the American lexicon (Santorum) then he can help push the idea of aking Bush & Co. accountable and raising money for the ACLU in the process.

Go Dan! I love you! :loveya:

but I wouldn't mind having one of those "tasteful little pins" to help Dan Savage's site.."IMPEACH THE MOTHER FUCKER ALREADY!" :)

Be fun to wear it to work where I can't be political anymore so only my friends will know what it means and anyone else who asks..it means, "I'm The Most Fervent Advocate" :patriot: :patriot:

Dan is an incredibly gifted and humorous writer. I regularly read his column "Savage Love" and I have read all of his books--all great reads for anyone that is interested in checking out his work. "The Kid" was my personal favorite.

And his political activism makes me love him even more! Go Dan!!! :)

25. Savage Is A Freaking Hypocrite
Dan Savage can go F**k himself for all I care: at the beginning of the war he wrote columns calling peace protestors idiots and fools. What is even more pathetic is that I have never once heard him own up to it in an interview.

Don't belive me? Read it for yourself here:

Say "YES" to War on Iraq
Liberals Against Liberation
BY DAN SAVAGE

"No to War! No to Oppression!"
The above anti-war message was delivered to me via a sad-looking pink poster. I pulled the poster off a light pole and hung it in my office over my desk. I look at the poster every day when I sit down to work, and every day I wonder how and when the American left lost its moral compass.

You see, lefties, there are times when saying "no" to war means saying "yes" to oppression. Don't believe me? Go ask a Czech or a European Jew about the British and French saying "no" to war with Germany in 1938. War may be bad for children and other living things, but there are times when peace is worse for children and other living things, and this is one of those times. Saying no to war in Iraq means saying yes to the continued oppression of the Iraqi people. It amazes me when I hear lefties argue that we should assassinate Saddam in order to avoid war. If Saddam is assassinated, he will be replaced by another Baathist dictator--and what then for the people of Iraq? More "peace"--i.e., more oppression, more executions, more gassings, more terror, more fear.

28. Why Iraq?
If saving civilians from a horrific oppressor was the goal, there is a substantial pool of oppressors much more dangerous than Saddam Hussein, who are killing more innocents than Saddam ever did.

In fact the United States has always been fully aware of these dictator's activities, and yet we supported, and continue to support, many of them.

But no, we look the other way in almost all of these cases, except it seems, in places or circumstances where some Americans can profit. Really don't see ol' George breaking a leg to save the innocents in Dharfor now do we? Coincidence I'm sure, that there isn't a whole lot of money to made there.

Sorry, the ones who lost their moral compass certainly are not the anti-war crowd.

Unless Savage has changed his pro-war stance, I know I am not supporting him financially by buying his ITMFA gear. I can't speak for Cindy but I do know she feels as strongly (or even more so) about the unjustice of the war in Iraq as I do.
