The "Good News" from Iraq
Edited on Wed Mar-29-06 11:03 AM by Ava
And according to George Bush the media has it all wrong when it comes to the the war in Iraq.

Bush on March 20
"The kind of progress that we and the Iraqi people are making in places like Tal Afar is not easy to capture in a short clip on the evening news. Footage of children playing, or shops opening, and people resuming their normal lives will never be as dramatic as the footage of an IED explosion, or the destruction of a mosque, or soldiers and civilians being killed or injured."

That same town that Bush singled out by as a success story and an example of the "good news" from Iraq was last night the scene of a suicide bombing that killed at least 40 people and wounded 20 others.

"Forty people have been killed and 20 wounded when a suicide bomber blew himself up in the midst of candidates waiting at the army recruitment centre," an Interior Ministry official said.

According to morgue officials in Iraq 30 to 40 mutilated bodies are showing up in the streets of Iraq DAILY.
Amid rising sectarian violence, with dozens of mutilated bodies turning up daily at the city morgue, there has also been a spate of attacks and robberies by uniformed raiders on stores, money-changers and other businesses this week. On Monday and Tuesday, a total of 35 people were abducted in four attacks, including two on electronics dealers and one on a money-changer where the attackers also stole $50,000. The fate of those victims is unknown. The dead in Wednesday's attack in the affluent Mansour district of western Baghdad included three women. Around 30-40 bodies, many shot in the head and showing signs of torture, are being found on the streets of the capital every day, morgue officials say.

When will President Bush finally realize that the only good news about Iraq would be the news of an exit strategy?

2. So those people who are "resuming their normal lives"
just need to get over it when an IED disrupts their drive to work. And the eulogies of the innocents killed can stress the good news that offsets their deaths.
